Hotels.com very poor

I was booked into the Rowbridge on Tuesday 3rd may, Hotels.com then cancelled this booking with less than 2 hours notice while i was 200 miles from home. Extremely poor service, i even spoke with the owner of the Rowbridge who informed me they asked Hotels.com to stop taking booking weeks ago.

You have not read my earlier e-mail when i advised that this hotel is closed for refurbishment and had to book another hotel at short notice. You are very quick in attempting to establish quality but very slow in responding to criticism. I did manage to book another Hotel, namely the Talbot in Ripley, Woking which was OK

Room was to cold need a bigger heater for the size of the room. Also the shower was to low to get under comfortably. And the head was blocked so not working probably. Apart from that all good.

ne night in Woking

Good value for the area albeit the whole place looks a little tired. Room clean and comfortable, good ventilation and plenty of tea and coffee available. The downside was the hotel had stopped doing breakfast but this site still promotes it does. This has led to the staff having to face a lot of hostile comments which simply isn’t fair. Do them a favour Hotels.com and update your website!

No longer does cooked breakfast. Cold room

Room was cold, to the point that I wasn't comfortable unless I had a jumper and trousers on, small fixed electric heater not fit for purpose. Asked for a portable heater at reception to be told they didn't have one. We booked primarily because of the good breakfast reviews and were disappointed to find they now only do a continental which you must take to your room the night before.

No breakfast, £50 max.

The well reviewed excellent breakfast is no longer available, misguidedly I booked a £77 room after reading previous reviews that raved about the breakfast. All that is on offer now is a pot of instant porridge or a croissant with a box of juice that you have to collect on check in. In reality it's a £50 max room with a ropey shower, inadequate heating and at best a half arsed packed lunch. I feel a bit cheated and won't be back again. No one to check you out in the morning, great pub but it seems that the person in charge of the hotel side of things had checked out long before me.

Charged when I had already paid ...be careful

My stay was fine but when I came to check out the lady at reception said I had to pay for the room. Stupidly I didn't check my booking and later found out that I had already paid the £162.00 for two nights to Hotels.com, so I was charged twice! Now trying to get my money back!

Only minor problems: bed very noisily creaky when you moved. Carpets in the annex corridor a bit grubby. Big plus point: staff very helpful and sociable to this strange old northerner with a bad back sitting in the bar on a Saturday evg.

We had come down for a family party at the Rowbarge. The lady who checked us in was friendly and helpful. Food at the party was plentiful and good. Have to say though the rooms are poor and cold, the carpets need replacing throughout. The lady who checked us did try to find extra heaters but to no avail. This time of year there need to put the heaters on in the rooms the morning before you arrive. But the rooms desperately need bringing up to date. The breakfast was very good.

Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment. Our room was a good size, very comfortable and clean with TV, tea and coffee maker and hair drier. Great breakfast and friendly staff. We also used the restaurant for our evening meal. The menu had a very good selection and the food was well presented, tasty and good portion size. We would stay there again if in the area.

Don’t be put off by the slightly unprepossessing exterior. It does a look a bit uninspiring from the outside and on a Friday night it was a bit lively BUT the accessible room was perfect, spacious, quiet and well appointed. Dinner was excellent, a delicious steak and so was breakfast. Very pleasant staff, chatty new landlord, nothing was too much trouble. The pub is due for a (needed) refurb which will provide a much needed accessible toilet in the pub amoungst other changes. The dining room could do with some smartening up and easier wheelchair access but it’s adequate atm. The outside pots need replanting which would help a lot in improving its kerbside appeal. Very convenient for Bisley. Would stay again.

Short stay

Stayed for 2 nights for a family funeral.On arriving the staff were welcoming and friendly,unfortunately on our first evening meal all our orders came at different periods,between 10 to 30mins.appart,although the food was very nice.
