"New owners being updated"
The hotel has new owners and is undergoing an update. The staff were great, location excellent. We were initially allocated an older room, but on speaking to staff were quickly upgraded to a newly renovated room. The breakfast was excellent, all cooked to order with fantastic views of the gorge below. The staff are all friendly without seeming pushy. Would recommend hotel

"Waking up on top of the clouds!"
This is a ski resort but used for biking and hiking in the summer. It is 13 kilometers on a gravel road but we drove up it easily. The room was beautiful and we had a washer and dryer in our room which was handy. There is a restaurant on site which had some great take away food. We ordered the pizza and lasagna. The best thing about this location is the elevation and the unbelievably beautiful views. This was a hidden treasure we just happened above.

"Nice room with beautiful view over the lake."
This hotel is on the edge of the town but this is not a problem because it is only a 15 minute walk in to the centre and a 5 minute taxi ride to come back.

"Nice place close to town"
Arrived for a holiday early and they already had the room ready. Everything was good about the stay except the first night both sets of sheets were dirty. We had them changed out and all was well. The staff was very friendly and had excellent suggestions for activities.

"Large hotel conveniently located. "
Our room was located on the ground floor with an excellent view of the lake from the tiny balcony. No aircon throughout the motel however meant leaving the window open at night was necessary and there was a lot of noise from the street. The reception staff were efficient but lacked the warm friendliness evident elsewhere in New Zealand accommodation. The parking situation is inadequate for a motel of this size necessitating street parking on several occasions.

"Beautiful hotel on the lakefront"
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Addie the reception lady was fantastic to deal with. We had fresh bread out of a bread maker waiting for us when we got there and a bottle of wine(we had said we were staying there for our honeymoon). Hotel was very clean. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains from our belcony.

"Great hotel, really enjoyed our stay!"
We were very impressed with our stay at Heartland Hotel and found ourselves wishing we could stay longer. Quiet, clean & very spacious room - equipped with super comfortable bed, own washing machine (which after camping for a few days, we really loved!), kitchen, living area, balcony & large bathroom with great amenities. Staff were friendly & very helpful. Close walk to Queenstown restaurants, shops & waterfront. Would definitely recommend this hotel & we would stay again!

    Things to Do in Queenstown

Queenstown offers visitors an incredible amount of adventures to undertake during their stay in the area. As this resort town rests right on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, spend your holiday snorkelling and scuba diving, but also swimming with the local dolphins and seals. Yet there is still plenty to do during the cooler times of year as well. Skiing and snowboarding are wildly popular on Mt. Hutt and other surrounding slopes, while tourists and locals alike love wine tours to the nearby vineyards.

The Queenstown Gardens offers a glimpse at some of the country’s native plant and flower species, while the Kiwi Birdlife Park allows you to admire the various types of avian species found in this corner of New Zealand. Other natural attractions that you may want to include on your list of sights to see include Milford Sound, which offers unparalleled views of Fiordland National Park, and Skippers Canyon, a massive gorge that holds a surprising amount of history. The Remarkables mountain range is another popular draw for avid trekkers, as is the world-famous Routeburn Track, which starts at the Southern Alps and concludes at the Divide, located not far from Homer Tunnel.

    Weather in Queenstown

Due to its relatively high altitude and location amid the mountains, Queenstown enjoys an oceanic climate that creates comfortable temperatures in the summer, and reasonably mild winters. During the summer months, thermometers may occasionally climb to a steamy 30 degrees Celsius, though the mercury mostly stays in the low- to mid-20s. Winter, conversely, can get rather cold with average temperatures hovering around 5 degrees, though they sometimes dips below zero. It is common to see snow falling during these cooler times, but the white stuff rarely sticks around long enough to result in any actual accumulation, except on the nearby mountaintops.
