Close to Kīlauea Caldera Eruption

The proximity to the eruption allowed us to jump over in the middle of the night to witness this once in a lifetime opportunity. Everyone loved the landscaping and surrounding rainforest. The wood interior was lovely. Thank you for having our family stay.

Patterson Family Review

This property was so peaceful. We enjoyed hearing the birds and sitting in the jacuzzi at night. The home was immaculate and beautiful. The beds were so comfy and we will stay here again in the future. If you need a relaxing place to unwind near Volcanic National Park and Hilo, this place is for you!

Secluded Cabin Close to Volcanoes

We loved our stay at Aloha Sweet Hale. It was spacious, clean and super close to Volcanoes National Park. Shirley was a great host and was always prompt to reply to our questions. I would recommend this place and stay here again.

Wonderful home base for visiting Volcanoes National Park

This was an ideal spot for two couples who wanted to explore the park (and stay on alert for the eruption, which we did see!) but have a very comfortable home to return to, just minutes from the park. We made good use of the wood stove, the hot tub and the well stocked kitchen. Lorena is a very attentive and responsive host. We had a little mix up about the lock box code, but she answered her cell phone immediately and talked us through it. Would definitely recommend.

Really nice place

Great home that is spectacularly clean. Just amazed at how well kept the home is and made for a very comfortable stay. Glad to see plenty of firewood was provided to keep us warm at night and in the morning. Very short distance to Volcano National Park. Highly recommend.

Beautiful home!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home in the beautiful native Hawaiian rainforest! This home is well stocked with everything you need for the stay and is located just 5 minutes from the National Park. We had a relaxing time sitting on the deck in the morning with coffee and enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The owners are kind and communicative and have maintained a beautiful property. Will stay again!

Wonderful cabin in the fern forest

This was our second stay at this property and we loved every minute of our stay. The cabin is well appointed, clean, and a perfect space to vacation with family and friends. The hot tub is wonderful especially after a day of hiking and the fireplace adds the perfect cozy touch. Shirley sends out timely communication and was quick to respond to my emails. She is a terrific host. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Convenient base to explore Volcano and Hilo

The home worked great for us. Two adult couples visiting the island. We were looking for a place close to the national park. On the day we arrived, there was a torrential rain storm the entire day. The host was able to get us into the house early which was super helpful since touring was not an option. We enjoyed the hot tub and playing cards to pass the day. Beautiful landscaping. Lots of room. And the full size washer/dryer was much appreciated.

Away from the bustle

Stayed here while bicycling around the Big Island. Great location close to the national park and away from the "bustle" of Volcano yet easy biking to "town" for eating and groceries. A surprising number of good eateries in town. Quiet (except for the birds). Good communication with owner. Nicely appointed and clean. Highly recommended.

Incredible place!

Great location - only 7 minutes to Volcano House in the National Park. Lush, beautiful, and very private grounds. Beautiful home with great “Island-meets-mountain-cabin” design and decor. Fantastic private lanai with hot tub. Despite all of these great features, what really stood out about the property was how immaculately clean it was - especially in the challenginging climate/environment of Volcano. Well stocked with all the necessaries too - including coffee. We will definitely be back!

A very special place

We loved the wood stove the landscaping and the quiet relaxing environment. The house was lovely and well thought out. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean and comfortable. My only negative is the appliances seem over worked and loud and could use an upgrade. I understand the need for cameras but the one facing the back door seemed to take in the hot tub and it felt a bit intrusive. Other than that we loved our short stay. Thank you.

Five stars isn't enough!

The house was everything we were expecting and more. It's perfectly set up for relaxing and hanging out, and an ideal base for exploring the national park and the Hilo area. Lots of small touches like providing coffee, and plenty of comfy seating inside and out make the experience that much more special. Highly recommended! I'd suggest noting in the directions that it's a mile and a half or so off the main road. We thought it was near the main road so pulled into few wrong houses before finding it.

Paradise Oasis on Paradise Island

It doesn’t get better than this! We were impressed with the cleanliness and privacy of this beautiful home. As a clean-freak, I usually clean a rental when I arrive; here, I didn’t have to do a thing! Everything from hot tub to laundry worked perfectly. The owners have created a splendid sanctuary in the jungle, yet it is so close to Volcano National Park, restaurants, etc. although we didn’t cook much, the kitchen had everything we needed including a coffee grinder, tea and coffee (if you didn’t stop and buy beans at Green-well Farms). We highly recommend this home for your Volcano Park stay!!!

Perfect for Volcano viewing

It was easy to give this place a 5-star rating. The home was spotlessly clean, and well-stocked with towels, throw blankets, etc. The property was absolutely beautiful, and the hot tub on the lanai just made our stay perfect. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had all the basics we needed. We especially liked the feature in the hallway bathroom where the toilet was in a door-separated area from the mirror/sink — it made getting a family with 3 teenage girls ready and out the door much easier! Last but not least, if you want to hike Volcano National Park and see the lava flowing, the location can’t be beat. It’s a 10 min drive from the park entrance, which makes nighttime lava viewing especially easy, given that at the time we visited, the lava observation site required a 3-mile round trip hike in the dark. It was so nice to finish and be “home” rather than finish and then drive almost an hour back to a rental in Hilo.

Perfect for our group of 5

Our group, ranging from 5 to 8 has been staying in volcano at various places over the last 10 years. This home has been the most perfect in so many ways. Their attention to detail is unparalleled; little touches that you wouldn’t expect are everywhere, like heated towel bars, heaters in the bedrooms, ice in the freezer, nice dishes and flatware - not cheep seconds, lots of nice glasses and cups. This might sound like it should be usual, but it isn’t. Most people furnished their places with furniture and decor from secondhand shops. It’s not the case in this home. The host was a great communicator and left clear instructions for us that were easy and sensible to follow. If we go back to Volcano, we will definitely stay here again.

The cabin has everything you could need for a day at the Volcano or at the beach. It is so cozy and comfortable. Lorena has thought of everything. The property is so private but absolutely beautiful. You have amazing garden views from each room. The fans in each room were wonderful as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Peaceful, cozy retreat

We absolutely loved every bit of our four night stay! Communication with Lorena was easy - and she was so kind and helpful. The property is beautiful - just as pictured. Aloha Sweet Hale is quiet and located in a natural setting.This home is clean, very comfortable and well organized. Lorena has thought of everything that you would need during your stay. For the chilly mornings at breakfast, we would use the electric heater provided. Lorena is a great communicator. The artwork is amazing. We were so grateful for the washer and dryer. On our last night/last day, the Volcano erupted. Our family went to the Jagger Museum area to watch. Raining and very few people at that time (4 am). We plan on coming back next year.THANKS LORENA!!!

Kīlauea Eruption

This is an amazing property six minutes from the park entrance. We spent the whole day exploring the park. After a relaxing dinner and soak in the hot tub to soothe some sore muscles I was just about to call it a night. I just couldn’t get enough of the stars on the night sky. I headed out for one last look and the sky was glowing red. ten minutes later we were back in the park watching an amazing eruption. It was amazing.
