Lovely boutique hotel, excellent service and rooms are lovely. A real change to standardised chain type hotels, it was just wonderful and the staff were all lovely.
Top Quality Room with a luxurious Bed & top of the range Decor. The bathroom & shower was also amazing! The restaurants downstairs are so good with friendly staff & food to die for. We were there celebrating a special occasion & it did not disappoint - I would highly recommend this place.
The room is beautiful. I like it so much, the colour of the fabrics, the pattern on the door, the vintage window, the furry surface of wardrobe, everything. And it's comfortable as well, lovely bed and lovely shower. The old post office building itself is worth a visit.
The furnishings are really contemporary and pretty swanky. I loved the whole way this old bank has been modified. The bar has the best gin drinks and the atmosphere is wonderful. Just be mindful that this is an older building which has quirks - for those who need 100% quiet, you may struggle with the noise from the bars particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. But it has the best bed I have ever slept in.
Beautiful but very quirky room! Staff were very friendly. Only gripe was bar shutting very early on a Saturday night. Otherwise excellent stay.

Below expectations
The room was not that clean, rust everywhere in the bathroom. Spiderwebs at the corner of the room. No reception when you try to check in and check out.
My wife and I stayed one night at the Clarence Hotel (the former Tauranga Post Office). Nice old building but have been fully refurbished and updated. The room was nice and large and provided all the necessities, including a nice comfy bed.
Unfortunately the Bistro was closed for renovations so didn't get a chance to eat there - existing pics looked good.
We chose this on spec for a one night stopover and we’re pleasantly surprised on now good the hotel is. Lovely attention to detail in the rooms, fabulous bar, friendly and attentive staff and great food. Central location and off street parking make this a real find. Love the decor and ambience.
Surprisingly, a excellent and comfy unit. Converted from the old post office, the rooms are very modern and nicely redone. One flight of stairs, but no elevator. The staff will help with luggage.
Design details are terrific. Beds are comfortable, nespresso machine in room with small tea cakes. Restaurant/bar is lively Asian fusion and any noise abates by 11PM
