This is a meticulously maintained property with beautiful landscaping and breathtaking sea views. The staff is very efficient and very courteous in all services and requests. You can tell it is a very well managed. The food is good not great. Certain restaurants are better than others with Casa Amate standing out above the rest. This is wonderful resort that also seems to cater to families as well. We enjoyed our stay at Andaz Mayakoba very much and would return again next year.

Large beautiful grounds. Long distance to the beach-15 minute bike ride. They have golf cart transport. The hotel is closing, so many services reduced including restaurants and restaurant hours. No entertainment, not even music by the pool. No bars to speak of to sit and have a drink.

Good: It's a perfect place to stay with the kids. Bad: The beach and the beach pool are really small and packed with the beach chairs. Very bad: The SPA treatments are extremely expensive, 2-3 times higher than medium at the seashore.

I loved having access to the bikes to explore the nature trails with. It was fun to go get drinks at other hotels in the evening too. I enjoyed eating at Sotavento and Tinta del pulpa beer the beach. I highly recommend. Had such a relaxing time. Would ask that cleaners please lock the deck door after they clean. Raccoon came in my room while I was in the shower... I realized everyone the cleaner came they would open the deck door and then close it but not lock it.

We stayed at this resort February 18 to 23rd. We had seen on the Hyatt website that, in early March, the hotel would be closing for a "re-branding". It felt like the hotel was mothballing around us....shutting down restaurants, starting to not have enough staff - either due to them finding other work or not needing them. I am disappointed that we weren't alerted that the resort was no longer running at "capacity"- we would have changed our reservation. The prior reviews had been really good, but they are in a different operating scenario at the moment. Unfortunate. Staff was still kind and trying their best, but running pretty ragged - everything was pretty slow. It would be good of Hyatt/Expedia to allow guests the options to make alternative arrangements for this last week or so before they shut down.

A dream vacation. Beautiful rooms, we faced a lagoon and had amazing bird life around. 4 restaurants with excellent high quality dining options. I loved the guacamole and ceviche. Could live on it. The desert table at Casa Amate was very special. Showstopper was the handmade/hand painted chocolate bar, which we will hanker for in years to come. Lots of quaint white basket bikes to cycle to the beach or the along the lovely nature walk cycling paths. Property felt new and in pristine condition. The staff were incredibly warm and genuinely kind. Are Mexicans this friendly or has Andaz managed some voodoo top class hospitality training? The beach was the perfect Caribbean dream, white sand, clear clean water. Swam almost everyday. One suggestion, Andaz should consider using floor cleaning machines to thoroughly clean esp. bathroom floors. Everything looks pretty clean but when I wiped the bathroom floor a few times with a tissue, it came up dirty. Maybe my OCD, but bathroom floors need to be spotless at hotels. The All-Inclusive option was well worth it. Iā€™ve been trying to get off carbs but this was not the week for it. Donā€™t miss out on the brownie cookie, preserved orange segments and dark chocolate disks with crushed nut topping, all found at the little Express coffee shop tucked away in the Sanctuary. Itā€™s all those special little details youā€™ll love.

The dining at Amate was very good in service and cuisine. Sotavento was good but not as I expected after Amate. Both restaurants had a very limited wine list of one selection of each variety - white, red, rose. The property is nice, however there were numerous times I noted beers cans, food containers, and trash about the property. They advertise hot tubs, but they are simply an area of the pool with jets. Most of the pool furniture is in need of repair. Overall as it is listed as 5 star, it is mediocre at best. There were employees who seemed to try, but at times you couldnā€™t find one.

Andaz is a beautiful, lush, peaceful place to spend a few days. Nice pools (the hot tub pool is very cool), solid beach. We stayed for 9 nights... There were things I really liked about the resort, and things I really didn't. On the positive side, it is very relaxing, it is well kept, and the staff try very hard. They are all a credit to the resort. I remember Enrique and Abraham from Sotavento especially. For an all inclusive, Tinto de Pulpo, Sotavento (lobster tail and oysters available), and especially Casa Amate (steak) are all very good. They are legit restaurants, particularly the latter two, with stellar service. If you weren't on all-inclusive, you would find the prices offensive. I don't know who sets the prices, but they are out of touch with reality.... On the less positive side, this resort does not offer much at all to fill your days. We loved biking around the resort, the butterfly and bee sanctuary, and the 40 minute lagoon eco cruise was very nice. But most everything else costs and wasn't good when we tried it (the hydro therapy at the spa, for example). They had a Super Bowl party, and charged $1300 pesos just for me to sit and watch the game, and eat and drink the same food included in all-inclusive. Very annoying. Then, on the last day we had a late flight, but they cut off all inclusive privileges at 12, so we had to pay extra for our last meal. Stuff like that leaves a bad taste and makes the resort feel cheap and unclassy. They need to reconsider.
