## Neighborhood

The 1st arrondissement is known for its historical and architectural richness. It's a hub for the city's administration, home to the City Hall and the Opera House, and is deeply tied to Lyon's cultural heritage.

The Opera House was revamped in 1983 with the creation of the Orchestre de l'Opéra, which quickly became known for its combination of youthful musicians and experienced conductors. Some of the notable names in the orchestra's history include John Eliot Gardiner, Kent Nagano, and Iván Fischer.

Place des Terreaux is a vibrant area featuring the City Hall, which was built in the mid-17th century by Simon Maupin and later modified by architect Jules Hardoin-Mansart, who also designed the Palace of Versailles.
