Seaview is a great house. Glenelg is a lovely location. Together they make a great combination for a quiet week. The house was bigger and more spacious than I'd expected. It is very comfortable, with all mod cons and a very well equipped kitchen, and has stunning views across the bay. Highlights of our week included driving to the end of the dead-end road that runs past the house, enjoying spectacular scenery along the way and tea at the end in the smallest, most unusual cafe we'd every been in (in Corran); two trips up to the amazing brochs, one trip by car and the other using hired bikes (hired from just down the road), again enjoying tea and cake at a lovely eco-cafe; taking the local car ferry across to Skye (the ferry is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland - and was a joy to see in operation); eating at the local pub (great food and beer) and enjoying the live music there on one evening; tea in the Glenelg cafe; a very long but stunning drive to the Applecross peninsula; and a very long drive around Skye (it's a big place!). The weather during our week was mixed but the house was a good place to sit and read and watch the rain sweep in, and although there was only the one road in and out (other than the ferry to Skye), it's a decent road with lovely views. Just one word of advice for visitors who intend to self-cater - stock up with food on the way in - nearest supermarkets Fort William and Kyle (with another on the road into Kyle) and then top up from the small local shop. (The shop was closed on Sunday.) Great week - thank you Maria and David for the use of your lovely house!
