Booked as a last minute random stay, turned out to be my forever preferred hotel from now on. The staff from the Front office manager, every single guest agent to the concierge staff member, pool attendees, garden cleaners to the humblest security guard always went out of their way to welcome you with a warm greeting and Srilankan hospitality that comes from the heart. The room standards were exceptional without any faults and the Quality of all F&B outlets including room services was 10/10. Will definitely be back and recommend to anyone.

Amazing place. I was a little hesitant to book this hotel, thinking it was an old hotel, boy I was wrong. the food was great, the beach is right there and the staff are friendly and courteous.

A fair hotel in a good location. Pool area is nice and direct access to the beach. The restaurant offers a large buffet with all you can ask for, except for gluten free options that is limited. The rooms are of OK standard.

We arrived at the hotel late at night, but was greeted with a great surprise that our room was upgraded to a corner suite! (as other rooms were fully booked on that day) The view from the room was fantastic with river, pools, sea views on the both sides. Also there were Dilmar tea prepared in the room which we enjoyed so much during our stay! The highlight for me was the breakfast - the restaurant was so beautiful, and the food was amazing with lots of Sri Lankan and other food options! Very accessible to the peaceful beach and we enjoyed the sunset on the beach bed too. I would really love to stay longer in this resort, so would definitely be back soon!

The resort was good and enjoyed the stay overall. Nice view of the sea. But service was not up to mark. The operator will not respond promptly. House keeping took long time to provide service. On some days even water bottles were not available and we had to ask for. Food was okay.

The hotel was fantastic. The wee gift they gave my son was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. The only small problems was that we didn't sleep very well due to the noise of the trains from early in the morning. Perhaps ask for a room at the other side of the hotel to avoid this. would possibly have liked if the staff in the dining hall had explained where everything was as it's such a vast area. Although they were very busy so that may explain why the didn't. overall a wonderful hotel and we actually wanted to stay an extra night.

Well designed buildings and particularly beautiful and large bar area. The room (luxury seafront) was spacious and well furnished, with the housekeeping team providing a great service. A few niggles regarding other service levels and amenities, though (given that it’s a 5 star hotel): - No regular drinks waiter service at the beach - No regular drinks waiter service around the pool areas - We asked a pool bar man who happened to be passing by our loungers if he would bring us the drinks menu, he said ‘yes’ and that was the last we saw of him - Once phoned front desk from the room but it just kept on ringing with no answer The spa was superb, even though the prices are the same as in the UK. Generally, the prices of food and drink are very high which probably explains why the main bar and restaurants were pitifully empty every night we were there.

Outdoor space, with beautiful, lush garden, direct access to the beach and facilities (one of the largest, nicest pool we have ever seen) as well as the beautiful architecture of the main building easily justify a 5. The room would be 3 only, hence the 4 on average. The rooms are large and have largely kept their original style and furniture (a plus) but felt tired. The carpet on the floor was worn out with a dodgy large brown spot. The aircon couldn’t be adjusted. It was either very cold and noisy or no aircon at all. We had to go for no aircon which meant a musty atmosphere given the significant external humidity. One of the lamps was damaged. Staff generally nice and helpful. There was a wedding in the hotel for two of the three days. Manageable but quite noisy at times.

Very quiet and safe place. Lots of options for food. Prices are to the little expensive side, especially in the bar. Beach is not very clean.

When I checked in I was told my room covers for 1 adult free breakfast this was a surprise to me as we are 1 adult and 14 yo snd 9 yo I had to pay extra 500 USD for 6 nights never going to book on Expedia again no transparency I felt tricked for this price! First night dinner in the hotel’s main restaurant my 9 year old had vegetable noodles and second morning spent it throwing up from food poisoning no compensation whatsoever from hotel! We started our holiday on a bad note for sure. Then 3rd day I used the lift and out of sudden power went out and lift dropped from 2nd floor to ground it was scary and painful dropped I’m thankful my kids escaped uninjured reported it to reception but no one seemed to care they just told me oh due to power shortage no apology nothing and then went to breakfast afterwards and server kept insisting in selecting my sitting area although restaurant is empty due to low season I was already shaken by the whole thing I just needed to sit down and breath! However the House keeping services were the best 5 star service I wish the rest mirrored their service. Overall hugely disappointed from my experience!

Very excellent property with both river and ocean view. Located at close proximity to Bentota beach. Excellent customer service with courteous staff members. Special mention to the Chef Mr. Sunny Mehta who made sure we are served authentic cuisines especially for my senior aged parents. Thanks to the team and a very strong recommendation to anyone who is visiting bentota
