Pésimo servicio, uno de los recepcionistas (Matías) nos atendió estando absolutamente drogado; sus ojos estaban desorbitados y su mandíbula zigzagueaba con dureza. Ni si quiera se percató de que nos ofreció "weed" (como él le decía). Estuvimos 10-15 minutos analizando ofrecimiento recibido y el mal servicio por el que íbamos a pagar, tal como no poder comer en la habitación o no poder salir fuera del hostel con las llaves, y la pauperrima organización en la cocina, considerando los tiempos de pandemia en que nos encontramos, entre otras. Sumado a lo anterior, la ducha se encontraba fuera del baño, al lado de la cama, sin una puerta o similar, dando poca privacidad a cada huésped. Supongo que esto se debe a qué el baño era demasiado pequeño, tanto que tus rodillas chocaban con la puerta del mismo, cuando intentabas hacer tus necesidades. Además, al llegar, encontramos los cobertores sucios y un preservativo usado, bajo una de las almohadas. Doy está opinión públicamente, a pesar del hostigamiento que he recibido por parte de Matías en los últimos dos días, a través de WhatsApp, mi número de teléfono y correo electrónico, respondiendome en 3 oportunidades, en horas distintas, la calificación que le hice en Expedia, sin asumir su error e intentar mejorar, sino que por el contrario, intentando responsabilizarnos de su mal servicio a nosotros. A pesar de todo, les deseo suerte (FEEL GOOD)

Very good location, excellent staff and nice rooms
The place is near the beach, near downtown and at a calm/safe neighbourhood. The staff is excellent, very nice people working there. The building is very confortable, nice rooms everything you need. Nice spots to hang out too. They have bicycles for rent, which is so cool because the city is quite small so you can go everywhere in bike.

Nice hostel quiet, cozy, yet close to everything.
I am a Canadian solo woman traveller who does not speak Spanish. I was ending a cruise at Valparaiso and opted to spend a week in the Vina del Mar region. Staying at the Jaguar Hostel worked out very well, because, Ricardo, (the owner) spoke English, and went out of his way for me to see local parks, beaches and birding areas. He drew detailed maps and told me what bus to take etc (cabs are super expensive) so I wasn't scared to be stranded 50 miles from Vina del Mar and not know how to get back. He also told me about local restaurants that were reasonably priced and very good. Shalyn, an employee, was also very friendly, helpful well ainformed Also had an unexpectedly delightful Christmas Eve dinner with Ricardo and his family. They came to the hostel to prepare the Christmas meal, which was local fish bbq over the wood burning oven with grilled veggies, fish salad with lots of scallops and a fresh marinated fruit salad. All served with Chilean wine and champagne. It was a nice change from all the heavy food on the cruise, plus a very unique way to spend Christmas. Getting back to Santiago was also amazingly cheap. Instead of spending US $130.00 + for a cab, I went to the Bus Depot and reserved a ticket on a Turbus big comfortable A/C tour bus that cost $2600 pesos (CAN $5.00) to get to Santiago and then $1700 (CAN $3.00) to take the 40 minute shuttle to the airport.
