“Perfect Location in Vilnius”

Hotel Tilto, three star, small hotel (capacity 72 guests). Only two minutes walk to the Katedra and its Bell Tower, and thus on the edge of Vilnius Old City and Gedemino Avenue leading to the business centre. Great location. Some good restaurants nearby (Sue's Indian Restaurant, Zoe's Cafe, and Prie Katedra, a monastic micro-brewery in a cellar on Gedemino). Hotel in a fully converted building, beautifully restored (2006?), with lift, and automatic stair lighting. Breakfast rooms in basement with brick vaulted ceilings - good buffet, I liked the coffee. Owner is Irish, you are welcome to drink a Guinness in the cellar bar (I had a Clontarf single malt whiskey). My bedroom was splendid, clean, well equipped, although quite small. Bathroom good, no tub, but heated towel-rail. Room with flat-screen TV (CNN the only English-language program, but numerous continental languages). Front desk staff speak excellent English and are great, very helpful. Hotel is very good value. Out the main door, turn right, and enjoy Vilnius.

Area recommendations
The Old City is the obvious area of Vilnius for the interest of most visitors. Parts of the town still way undeveloped, but Vilnius a city full of surprises: approach a building from one side and it seems still post-Soviet, continue walking the other way and it seems like an EU city on the move. It is: plenty of history and beautiful buildings, shops, and restaurants. Also KGB Museum and reminders of the Soviet past. Lots of religion, lots of vitality, and lots of young people moving ahead.

“Great Vilnius location”

We stayed one night, prior to very early flight time, so didn't have breakfast. Nice room and bath. Elevator available - important for heavy luggage, and not available in all small European hotels. Desk clerk very helpful. For a Vilnius stay, would be great, as it is a block or two from the cathedral and walking distance to Old Town and many other sights and restaurants. They will arrange for a taxi to the airport at a price less than doing it on your own - not to mention that it's there for you at the scheduled time. This was important to us at 4:30 a.m.! Good value for the money.

Area recommendations
Many places of interest are readily accessible from the main street (one block from hotel) of the "new" town, Gedmino St. Just a few blocks away is Pilies St., the main street of Old Town - and leading to others. This whole area is quite walkable, and can keep you busy for a week or two. Some sites go back centuries, others (not to be missed) are much more recent, such as the former KGB building now housing the grim but edifying Museum of Genocide Victims (not for young children). Take in a first class orchestra performance at nearby Congress Hall. On a nice day walk along the river. Or a funicular ride to the hilltop overlooking the cathedral to the upper castle for fabulous views on a nice day. Many very good restaurants: Italian, Indian, German, French, etc. Also frequent small or low cost musical performances at historic churches in the area.

“A nice hotel and a friendly welcome”

A very nice and friendly hotel, just in city center. The receptionist, Inga ,gave us maps, information , and what is most important, a very welcoming feeling.

“I will be back”

The Hotel Tilto was clean and the staff friendly and eager to help. The complimentary breakfast was absolutely great. The rooms and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. It was a great place to stay and I enjoyed my ten day stay there.

“Satisfied_Bride”

The hotel is lovely and the staff did everything possible to make our stay pleasurable and relaxing. Our wedding guests were staying at the hotel - and coming from all over the globe - when they arrived it felt like one big home. Thanks Hotel Tilto!

“Little, but great location”

Really close to the Old Town and some nightlife, which was a plus. Internet worked fine, but other obvious amenities missing like clock, some bathroom stuff and a trashcan... Room is quite tiny, but only slept in it. Air Con worked, but place was still stuffy. Staff was pretty good, same couple people.

Nothing is open late, be aware of that, might have to do some walking deep into old town.

“great location and nice room, but noisy”

would go back for the price and location, but would ask for a room not on the street side or ground floor as it is noisy. air con was broken so needed window open, but street level noisy was ... noisy

“Great value”

Location is fabulous, less than two blocks from Cathedral Square and Gedimino. Recently renovated, room and bathroom were decent size. Some street noise facing onto Tilto. As elsewhere in Europe, air conditioning was anemic but windows open for fresh air. Would definitely go back.
