“In a very bad neighborhood.”
Prostitutes in Lobby Homeless on street Mentally ill people sitting in front of hotel poor security
“Inexpensive Basics”
Courteous staff. Clean. Small but comfortable room. Convenient public transportation. Neighborhood a bit seedy.
“ok near nightlife”
good lockation, nice staff
“Affordable hotel in animated neighborhood”
An affordable hotel in a very convenient place. Clean, nice, but a bit noisy.
“Afforable, but this place stinks. Literally.”
THE GOOD: It's affordable and in a convenient section of downtown. The staff is friendly and the attached restaurant serves good food. Super convenient for taking the bus and close enough to walk to the train station or the waterfront. THE BAD: This place really does smell as other reviews have noted. I was in two rooms, one of the 2nd floor and one on the 5th, both smelled as did all the hallways. I don't know what the smell is. It's not smoke. It's more like wet dog or dirty socks. Turning on the AC (window units) only made it worse. Only thing that even remotely helped was leaving the window open at all times. BOTTOM LINE: Even though it's a bit run down, it's a good value for the location, but if you've got a sensitive sniffer, you might want to look elsewhere.
“Good for the price compared to other hotels.”
It definately was cheaper than other hotels but you do get what you pay for. The comforters were pretty run down and old. The room stunk but we did get use to that ....also turned on the air conditioner which helped.
“Hotel was horrible”
Horrible. Dirty, dingy small room. No lobby. No place to buy water, soda, snacks.
“Good deal for the price”
I did like everything about the hotel, with the understanding that it is a good budget priced hotel. The location would normally be great except for the fact that there are several bars and nightclubs in this particular area and there is a lot of noise as patrons are leaving in the early hours of the morning. The hotel itself was very clean, staff very accommodating, and all in all it was very comfortable. I would use this hotel again.
“I will be back”
This is a very good and convenience place to stay in Vancouver. It is very affordable rate. I will be back in three weeks.
“Didn't feel safe for 2 women on their own on a Saturday night!”
This hotel is located on the convenient Granville Street. Although it is a good central location in Downtown Vancouver, the surrounding neighbourhood is not nice and somewhat scary after dark. We arrived here at about 8pm on a Saturday evening, it was very busy and extremely noisy. Our room was on the 5th floor but the window overlooked the main street. As we has a flight to catch the next day and unfortunately weren't out partying on the Saturday night, we had to invest in some ear plugs to be able to get some sleep. Although I didnt enjoy walking down Granville Street, it is close to the much nicer Robson Street which was lovely to walk down with a much better atmosphere, and you can get all the way the down to Stanley Park. If you just want somewhere to dump your bags, in a great location for the nightlife of Vancouver, then this is the place for you. But if you want a good night's sleep, I would recommend the much nicer Comfort Inn, just around the corner.
