“Enjoyed staying here over the years.”
This is not a new hotel, but the rooms are large with a couch and desk area. It has a coffee maker and a view of the city. It's right across the street from a Starbucks and a small shopping area with a great little grocery store. It's within easy walking distance of a number of restaurants.
“Gets the Job Done”
* Wifi was available (but not speedy) * Spacious suite * Bathroom a little small (for a 6' 150lb man) * Sink are spacious with large mirror and good lighting * Solid bed * Nice peak view of Vancouver skyline * 2 blocks from Canadaline (train/subway system) Bottom line: Gets the job done.
“Good inexpensive option away from downtown”
Hotel is older and showing its age a bit. If you have business away from downtown this is a good option. Downtown area just a short hop away.
“Simple mantnance would help.”
The Air condition did not work the first night, called 4 times to get light bulb took 3 days to get installed , cable tv very snowy with blurred sound
“Not impressed at all”
This hotel not up to par for 3 star hotel as Expedia advertised. Everything was old and not well maintained. A/C not working. Beds very old and hard. Bathroom old and outdated.
“good location for VGH and city hall.”
Helpful staff; hallways dated and stuffy but rooms fine. 10 minute walk to Broadway station on new Canada line subway, direct to airport or downtown.
“Fair...but”
The Plaza 500 is conveniently located in relation to the waterfront and market. We were a little disappointed with the facilities provided [ no bar fridge especially] and the overall condition of our room was generally "tired". The carpets had seen better days, but the beds were comfortable and linen clean. For the price the accommodation was adequate and we would recommend the Plaza to travellers who simply wanted to have somewhere safe and clean to sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful.
“Great Hotel - Nice Staff - Near Public Transportation”
This modern looking hotel is conveniently located in the city within a 2-minute walk from the SkyTrain-Canada Line "Broadway-CityHall" stop, but do take a cab to it from Pacific Bus Station due to connections; use the SkyTrain if coming from the airport. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful on a few occasions, also allowed us to check in early as soon as we arrived (thank you). Room all good, large bathroom, clean, fridge, coffee machine, nice balcony, superb views. Not enough toiletries offered in the bathroom (almost at all) so bring your own or buy them at the mall across the street. Banks around within 3-minute walking distance exchange up to $300 to tourists. Otherwise, this is a perfect hotel for the cost. No issues. Go to Visitor Info Center in downtown to book some things with a discount. Go to Stanley Park bikes for a tour, Capillano Suspension Bridge visit (&free transportation to it from Canada Place), Grousse Mountain - if can afford to spend, go zip-lining (we saw all age groups doing it, so we ziplined too: do listen to every word when instructed how to do it). No complains about the hotel - it gives wonderful comfort and is not expensive. Do not worry it's not located in downtown Vancouver because it's a 5-minute ride from it; you'll need SkyTrain tickets anyway to get around the city if not driving. Use the Transit Map of Vancouver (Google it, as it was hard to find around) if using public transportation and print it to bring it along on your trip.
“Not Impressed”
Lobby looks nice but once you go up the rest of the hotel was shabby. The location is not very near anything that you might want to see. they charged you to use their computers. we found much nicer places on the water front for the same price. i would not stay there again.
“It Needs to be Rehabilitated”
The hallways and rooms have seen a lot of wear and need to be renovated. Otherwise it is fine, but pedestrian. The staff is very nice and professional, from the cleaners to the the front desk. Since there is so much great food in Vancouver I did not try the restaurant.
