“very impressed”
just got back from staying at el paradero and was very suprised how good these apartments were ,very clean and comfortable . just 2 minutes from the nightlife of bars like yates ,brannagans and the many others that were excellent .
“Took a chance but proved to be in an ideal location and only 2*”
A large complex comprising 5 separate blocks with reception and bar facilities in main block, with open air breakfast facilities available in restaurant across the road. Our accommodation - first floor studio - some 100 metres from above but pleasant gardens to walk through. Reception was most helpful and efficient on checking in and out. Room was spacious and well equipped and cleaned on a daily basis.
“Not a place to relax”
I know we took the gamble of booking late, but found that where we stayed wasn't one that we were expecting. If you're happy to stay in a room without air conditioning, then by all means this is the place for you - but it was at times unbearable. Food was most of the time inedible. If you didn't arrive at the beginning of breakfast (7.30am) or dinner (6.00pm), you'd more than likely get luke warm food, which wasn't great. My girlfriend ended up eating pasta and chips for most of the holiday. Swimming pool was good, and the prices at the pool-side bars weren't bad. Security to the room wasn't the greatest - a metal bar that was put down in the runners of the sliding door! If you wanted to make yourself a cuppa, or keep cool - you had to rent kettles/fans from the reception. If we go back to Tenerife, we shan't be staying at El Paradero (or Paraiso del Sol - other name).
“You get what you pay for”
We stayed in the apartments (self-catering) which is very well equipped with cutlery, dishes, frying pan etc. which was excellent. It was in a complex outside the main hotel area though and you go through a locked gate to get to it which was a little odd. We got used to it though. Downsides: lots of little bugs in the room so bring a can of something that kills them, don't leave ANYTHING out (we had a cup of juice out for 30 mins and it was SWARMING with buggies), no fans or Air condition so gets a little hot during the day. Pools were nice and quiet for the most part but the pool bars weren't open. The half board breakfast was okay but the dinners were awful. The staff was good and responsive to needs.
