“Best holiday ever!”
Cotton Bay is brand new and some things are not yet complete - the new restaurant Piano Piano is still waiting for its Piano, the deli is opening soon and there will also soon be a champagne and sushi bar on the roof of the day spa. We stayed in a townhouse which was a mansion with a private pool and jacuzzi. Even if you stay in an apartment there is a really nice Lagoon Pool and a good restaurant/bar at the beach. The beach is the lowlight as it's on the Atlantic side of the island and really really windy. But everything else is so amazing it makes up for it. And Pigeon Island (joined up to the mainland) is nearby and has a really nice beach. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Go and stay at Cotton Bay! .
“Best holiday ever”
Cotton Bay Village is a new development which really does have the feel of a village rather than a resort or hotel. We stayed in a three bedroom townhouse with a private pool and jacuzzi. We also viewed an apartment. Both were immaculate, brand new, amazingly decorated and finished. Real luxury. The apartments don't have their own pool but are right next to the Lagoon Pool which is really nice. The Beach Club bar and restaurant on the beach is good for casual and the more upmarket bar/restaurant Piano Piano has recently opened. There's a deli opening soon and also a champagne and sushi bar on the rooftop of the day spa. The beach is the lowlight. As it faces the Atlantic it's rough and windy. Great for kite surfing and windsurfing but not so good for chilling out. However, Cotton Bay Village and the accommodation are so AMAZING that it makes up for it! Also, Pigeon Island is nearby (10 mins drive) with a really nice calm beach. The day spa is the best I've ever been to. It's easy to hire a car or else take taxis. They're not expensive and the drivers are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Cotton Bay isn't a party holiday like some of the other places in St Lucia but great if you want a relaxing holiday. Not at all boring though, there's still heaps to do.
“Peaceful, laid back”
I wanted a quiet, low-key place to stay with a kitchen, on the beach, not in the crowds of Rodney Bay yet close enough to get there by taxi for restaurants and grocery. I really enjoyed Cotton Bay Village and would recommend it to those who do not need a lot of night life at the hotel. Also, as a female travelling alone I felt very safe there. I did not rent a car; took cabs everywhere which added up but worth it if you are not comfortable driving on the left side of the road or worried about getting lost. I might rent a car if I return. The hotel is on the Atlantic side of the island. The beach is nice although I was never at the hotel during the day and did not swim at the hotel beach.
“Cotton Bay is a slice of paradise”
This place was absolutely amazing. Very upscale and welcoming with excellent staff, facilities, and food. The beach bar features great food served close enough to the Atlantic to toss your silverware in the ocean. My wife and I rarely found occasion to leave the property. The king bed mattresses would be my only complaint, being a little hard and featuring a few noticeable springs, but aside from that I can't say a single bad word about our accommodations there. The gym and spa are also very nice, and we walked around the lovely main pool but never used it. The breeze here keeps the temperature on the beach nice and comfortable but the water can seem a little chilly at times - though never such that you wouldn't take a dip in the beautiful ocean. The is a ton of great hiking adjacent to the hotel thanks to a development that never made it very far. My wife and I hiked about 30 minutes to a secluded beach where we were alone with the crabs. Piano Piano is also excellent, very upscale and elegant but an easy place to relax.
“Very nice!”
While we did not rezlize our resort was on the opposite side of the island from the airport and the most popular attractions when we made our plans, the accomodations and service were beyond excellent and we came to appreciate our remoteness. Traveling across the island to sight-see actually allowed us to see more of the native villages and beautiful vistas than we would have had we stayed nearby. That said, nothing is really very far. The resort catered to our every need from taxi arrangements to dinner reservations and recommendations. We NEVER ran into an unhappy employee.......EVERYONE was beyond gracious. The suites were BEAUTIFUL. If we had not wanted to sight see, we would have enjoyed just staying at the resort and had a very relaxing vacation in luxury!
“Highly recommended”
Slightly more remote than other hotels but the high standard of food (and at reasonable prices) outweigh the additional taxi fares to eat at Rodney Bay. The whole complex is so highly maintained and the friendliness of every member of staff makes you feel that every bit of effort they put in is to ensure that you do feel like a very special guest. Just the place for a quiet relaxing getaway without the hassle and noise of staying in an all inclusive resort.
“For peace, quiet and privacy....”
We booked the accommodation to be on the island for our elder son's wedding. We chose one bedroomed apartments for our younger son and us, and on arrival, we were both given two bedroomed, luxury apartments. The location was superb, overlooking a swimming pool, in which there were never more than 5 people, and we were 3 of them! All the staff, from Reception to resaturant to cleaning, were courteous and helpful at all times, and we were given the personal touch. We ate mostly at the beach restaurant, and the choice and quality of the food was excellent. If and when we need some rest and relaxation, we will definitely return.
“Would Do It Again!”
We spent a wonderful week in St. Lucia (July 17-July 24, 2010). We travel with friends (another couple) and we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom townhouse -- that was very much appreciated. We had more than enough room to spread out. The kitchen was awesome and we prepared several meals in the unit. We really like mixing in with the local population and going to the grocery store as well as shopping for souvenirs. Loved the IGA as well as other small grocery stores. Love Caribbean produce. We enjoyed the plunge pool as well as the resort pool. The staff was very accommodating especially Abdullah and Jason. This property was a bit out of the way but located in a very upscale area of he island. Taxis to Rodney Bay and Castries can be a bit expensive but we were on vacation -- so we splurged a little. The only negative I would like to mention is that screens should be placed on all sliding doors in the unit. That way, one can catch that wonderful Caribbean breeze without being bothered by mosquitoes or lizards. That being said, I would recommend this property and we would definitely stay there again. Oh, by the way, did i mention the work out room--very nice! Hope to visit St. Lucia again in the near future. The people were wonderful!!
“Can't wait to go back this time with family”
Relaxed very much in the quiteness of its location away from the hustle and bustle of Rodney Bay but again not far from the cricket stadium.
“A slice of paradise”
Cotton Bay looks just like the pictures you see of beautiful Caribbean resorts. We had three balconies to enjoy. The pool was wonderful and huge. If we needed anything, our needs were met immediately. The resort is off the beaten path, but that was actually what we were looking for. It is only five minutes into Rodney Bay with all the restaurants and only 15 minutes into Castries. It has a wonderful spa and a nice little shop to pick up grocery items. The restuarants have great food and great service. We loved it! Tip: If you want scenic beauty, friendly people, and quiet isolation, St Lucia is definitely the place to go. If you are looking for large, easilty accepable beaches, this is not your island.
