“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”
I stayed in early March 2011. The people are great who work and own the place. Make you feel at home. I was out partying most of the time and only came back at night. I walked around the area at day and night with no issues. I am a male 6'4" and 200 pounds, so I please use caution at night apparently. I had no issues walking around the city day and night. This hotel is a great place overall and I highly suggest to stay there. It is close to everything. OWNER IS THE BEST.
“Will return to this hotel!”
Since im in a wheelchair the Hotel wasn't accessible, but the staff helped me with everything. I really appreciated the help and overall hospitality.
“Very friendly and comfortable”
The owner also works in day time in the hotel as receptionist & is so nice and helpful. He offered the room and also breakfast, though the time for breakfast was passed. He helped for the attractions of the city and also helped on parking our manual-driven car to the parking place. The hotel offers breakfast included, free wireless internet in the room, safety box in the room. There is a refrigerator located near kitchen that we were using and also we asked for some kitchenware and used them. The hotel offers ceiling fan, (no AC), but it was fine in March. The windows could be opened and air circulation made it cool too. During day time, you could park in front of the hotel in a nearby street free of charge , ad at night we were advised to put our car in a nearby parking lot that costs $7 a night. The location is about 6 blocks from main destinations in downtown of San Jose, though the nearby streets were not a very safe place at night because of homeless people, but that the situation for the downtown area which helped us to walk around and come back to the hotel during day time. The staff could speak English, the owner himself was very fluent and knew a lot of useful very tourist info. The decoration inside the dining area in the lobby was so nice and the hotel was built in 1908. The water heating system was powered using solar power so it could be taking some time to have a warm water, probably in noon time would be the best to try the shower.
“GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN SAN JOSE”
This is my 5th time staying here. It is amazing in every aspect. Location, Staff, Owner make this a must stay in San Jose. Can't beat the price and service.
“Warm, competent and friendly staff.”
The staff was warm and friendly, and were very helpful in getting my boarding pass. The hotel is within easy walking distance of downtown. There was plenty of room in the room itself. It's an older building, but it was quiet, comfortable and secure. My room had no window which would be my only complaint, but the room was a great value. Anytime I return to San Jose I would stay there.
“Great! But not for the people who are OCD.”
I really liked it, I felt more exposed to Costa Rican culture here. And that's why I went to Costa Rica, to be exposed to a new place. A good breakfast of coffee, toast, cereal, and fruit is served every morning. No AC, and no in room locker/safe. Very spacious, had three beds in the room all to myself. Wonderful location. Del rey, key largo, morazan park, new fantasy, little havana, are all within a short walk.
“Liked it very much”
It is a quite small hotel with a great attitude towards its guests. They've been very helpfull and understanding... By the way, the neighborhood is not bad at all, with a couple of places to eat and to drink near by and supermarkets to get stuff. It is not in the middle of the city, so to get in and out is relatively easy and quick
“Extremely friendly and helpful staff; overall, a decent place to stay.”
The Taylor Inn B & B was a decent place to stay; also, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the eating/breakfast area was very pleasant. Birds would also come down in the little courtyard to have their breakfast. The only drawback was that sometimes it was a bit noisy because the walls were thin; however, it wasn't all the time and I got used to it - I stayed for four nights). The neighbourhood was fine and I felt comfortable/safe walking around even at night (I am female and only a little over 5.2 ft). In comparison, I am now in Managua, Nicaragua and last night at about 8pm a German woman was robbed at gunpoint outside of our hotel - now, this is definitely not a safe neighbourhood to stay in and I will not be walking around at night! I would definitely stay again at the Taylor Inn B & B! P.S. It was great having free wireless internet access!!
“Taylor Inn in San Jose CR”
The Taylor Inn is a small B&B in the northern part of San Jose proper, a few yards from Calle 3 and Avenida 13. It's out of the way of, well, pretty much everything, but it's only a few blocks from the center of town (San Jose is very compact). The staff was very friendly, and the woman at the desk was a great deal of help with everything. The place was not busy, to put it mildly; I'm not at all sure whether there was anyone else staying there. The breakfast was simple -- bread, cereal, fruit, and juice. There was a mediterranean food restaurant around the corner, which was decent but a little pricey. Although I was travelling alone, I think this place is best suited for couples who want to get away. I certainly had no complaints about the quality of the lodging, but in retrospect I would have preferred something closer to the center of town. I had a little trouble at the airport because the taxistas did not understand the word "Taylor" when spoken with an American accent. If you have trouble, try pronouncing it more like "Tyler".
“Good service, good price but wouldn't go there agan”
+ Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Rooms generally clean; see exception in list of minuses. Cost very reasonable. - Hotel difficult to find; located in a run down area. No top sheet on one of beds; no mattress pads, at least one bed certainly had dirty linen. Overall: Hotel inside appearance much better than outside appearance and nearby environment. Helpful, friendly staff. Would change to recommend if I felt the cleanliness of the bedding could be trusted.
