“Don't let location scare you”

The location seems seedy but it was totally fine and so conveniently located to the train station. Great breakfast; great service. Helpful staff.

“Excellent - Very impressed.”

We could not fault this hotel. It was clean, modern, well air conditioned (which is a must during the heat of the summer)and the staff were friendly and attentive. On arrival we had a very warm welcome and given free drink voucher. Our room was on the small side but very comfortable and quiet at night despite facing onto the main street. The buffet breakfast was excellent and catered for all tastes. Although not situated in the better part of Rome the area was perfectly safe to walk around especially after dark. Ideally situated away from the huge crowds that can build up around the more fashionable parts of Rome. A hotel can make or break a holiday this one certainly made ours.

“Highly Recommended”

From time of arrival to departure, staff were very helpful, caring, pleasant and friendly. Any concerns that we had were dealt with quickly. The hotel room was really comfortable and clean. Good air conditioning system, windows excellent soundproofing, pleasant decor with a 6ft wide comfortable bed. Lovely well equippped bathroom. The Hotel is tastefully decorated throughout. Our only disappointment was that guests were not allowed on the roof terrace - a feature we had looked forward to. We would use the Hotel again if we went back to Rome and would definitely recommend it.

“Very Impressed”

This is a lovely hotel, very clean and well maintained. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. As an ex travel agent I can be quite critical but I can say that I really enjoyed my stay at the Ambra Palace and would definitely stay with them again.

“Hotel was good”

We found the hotel good for 4star city hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and well kept. There was lots of choice at the buffet breakfast. We didn't eat any other meals there so can't comment on that. The neighbourhood was ok, the lonely planet guide called it Romes china town. It was a little scruffy but you felt safe and the locals seemed friendly. It was really close to the train station. There is an impressive indoor food market across from the hotel.

“Great Hotel”

Would recommend this hotel. Staff were very helpful the rooms were clean and the breakfast was plenty. The only downside was that the hotel was a bit of a walk to the places of interest but for the price we paid I was very impressed.

“Highly Recommended”

Excellent quality hotel. We were upgraded to a superior room. Our room consisted of a queen size bed, wardrobes, TV, sofa and an ensuite bathrm with jacuzzi bath. Very nice room indeed. We didn't actually have an evening meal in the restuarant but we did have the breakfast and it was very good. Although it was billed as a continental style breakfast there was something for everyone including pastries, cakes, toast & preserves, cereals, cold meats, cheeses and various breads. However, the most surprising things available were the hot selections of scrambled eggs, bacon & mushrooms. Unfortunately, as nice as the hotel is the area lets it down a little. The hotel is on a corner with many shops around and these are open early until late which means the streets can be a little noisy but this didn't bother us too much. The nearest Metro station is a two minute walk around the corner which is ideal but walking to it at night made my wife feel a little uneasy, but we never encountered any trouble. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the main train/Metro station Termini but possibly the best way to get between the two is the cheap local tram with a cost of only 1 euro. It is around Termini station that you will find most places to eat as the hotel is a little isolated from restaurants although there is an Indian restaurant right next door! As the hotel is close to a Metro station access to the sights is quite easy. Overall we were delighted with our stay and would recommend this hotel.

“Really pleased with hotel”

An excellent hotel all round - very central to Main train station and metro. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent room kept impeccably clean. Will definitely return. Only lament - prices at the bar are on steep side. All in all highly recommended. PS They also give you a free welcome drink. Go for it!

“great hotel”

great hotel. walking distance to termini rail and bus station. metro just round the corner. hotel staff very friendly and helpful. the restraunts reccommended by the hotel staff were fabulous and a welth of information on tours etc. great breakfast, but, water for tea was always tepid had to ask constantly for boiling water.we stayed at the golden tulip for a week. our bed and towels were changed every day.we had a room at the back of the hotel so it was quiet at night, but our friends had a room facing the street and they found it very noisey from about 5.30am every morning due to the local market directly across the stret from the entrance to the hotel.this market is worth a visitthe local area is a bit run down but we did not feel threatened at any time.will definetely stay at the golden tulip ambra palace next time we visit rome.
