“Beautiful resort, lovely people”
We had a fabulous stay at Wananavu. The staff were so friendly, the food was lovely, the bure on the beachfront was beautiful. We would highly recommend this for a romantic getaway for those who don't want to be around the big touristy resorts.
“Secluded Paradise”
We had an amazing 10 nights at Wananavu. I would recommend spending the extra to get a beach front bure, it is amazing waking up and seeing and hearing the beautiful ocean without moving. The beds are comfortable and rooms clean and I am hard to please in that department! The first few days there were only 10 guests in the entire resort and we were the only ones staying down on the beach...Amazing! All the staff knew our names, even ones we hadn't introduced ourselves to, and greeted us by name every time we saw them. After the first few days a couple big groups came in and we didn't feel so important and pampered anymore. I almost felt like we were put on the back burner, the groups got the best tables reserved and my biggest gripe about it is we had a couples massage scheduled, when we arrived for it they told us we would have to do back to back rather than together because the wedding group that went to the private island took the other therapist with them. Not exactly a couples massage but I guess they made a lot more money that way so weren't worried about upsetting one couple. The therapists are great, I had 4 massages during our stay and loved everyone of them. You will do a lot of walking. The resort is set on a hill with the restauarant/bar/pool in the middle. Prepare yourself for Kava, the official drink of Fiji, it tastes like dirty sock water but you have to at least try it.
“Beautiful reef, friendly staff, love to go back if we can find exciting food on menu.”
Bula, Wananavu! Every thing in the resort was great, we have had a wonderful time in Wananavu resort. Prestine reef, lovely staff with beautiful sing-songs. However, we believe that trying different food is a very important part of people's travelling experience. Since the resort is quite out of town, we are limited to the resort restaurant menu. The view from the deck is to die for, but we found the food choices a bit unimaginative - seriously lacking of local taste. We truly enjoyed the only Fijian night and beautiful Chicken Pilau bought on our way to the airport (big "thank you" to our driver). Considering the abundant local fresh seafood and spices supplies, we felt that the resort could certainly put out a much tastier menu. I wonder if cooked breakfast with Beef bacon is a must in the menu, could the kitchen provide pork bacon as an options? I hope this won't hinder your decision of going to the Wananavu resort. If you like to have western food and would like to have food you eat at home, you probably would be very happy with the menu. We will definitely go back to Fiji. And we will definitely go back to Wananavu if the food gets more Fijian/Indian interesting.
“Beautiful, relaxing, the 'real' fiji!”
The staff, facilities and atmosphere at the resort were all marvellous. Inclusive breakfast great. Only thing missing was a good beach at the resort.
