“Light touch top class service”
Views to die for over the Shotover River, beautiful rooms and an excellent restaurant. The service is light touch, almost invisible, until you need it and then its pretty instant. A lot of personal care taken with the guests. Most of the local excursions, even the helicopter flights, will pick up from Nugget Point direct. 15 mins from Queenstown airport and 10 mins by car from the lively town.
“5 stars”
We stayed here in April (low season) and had a wondeful time. Staff were all friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The views from the balcony were jaw dropping looking over the shotover river. I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers who appriciate quality.
“Everything we hoped for”
The earthquake in Christchurch meant a quick change of plans for our holiday therefor a change in hotels. After deciding to spend 3 of our nights in Queenstown we booked the Summer Sizzler package hoping that the hotel and special offer would live up to expectations. Initially we were aprehensive that it was a little far from town (about 8km) however after checking into our room (Riverview suite) these feelings disappeared. The room was very well appointed and clean though it could do with tissues in the bathroom and larger cups for tea and coffee. The bed was a large king and verrrrrry comfortable and a private balcony overlooking the Shotover river was a great place to relax with a bottle of wine after a busy day. It was very quiet when we were there as it is between seasons however this did not detract from the service which was always pleasant and efficient. The breakfast menu was adequate, well cooked and well presented. The only critizism we have was the quality of meal in the main dining room. Menu choice was fairly limited and when the mains were delivered we were disappointed at the quality of meal (beef) and overall presentation, in comparrison to other restaurants in town, given that prices charged were top dollar ($36-38 main). Overall we had a great experience and, if we could afford it, would definitely stay there again.
“Just gorgeous”
What a gem, a few kilometres out of town but worth the small drive. A beautiful hotel, decor gorgeous, lovely open fires, plush room and decor. Fantastic view over river and mountains. Fabulous breakfast in a bright and beautiful sunroom. Wished we could have stayed longer than the one night!
“What a great room!”
Fantastic! This was the best value for money hotel we stayed in during our three weeks in New Zealand. The view from the restaurant was great, the staff were all so helpful and friendly, the spa and other facilities were wonderful and the room was so well laid out and comfortable. Having a table and chairs outside was great and being in a "garden view" room on the ground floor meant that we could sit out even when it rained, under the shelter of the balcony abpve. We loved the three nights we spent here.
“ok boutique hotel”
To be fair, this is a nice boutique feel hotel and it had good lobby and garden setup and a lovely breakfast room with English garden view beamed in morning sunshine. it also has a good-viewed spa room though we didn't have time to enjoy. the River view in room itself is not impressive compared to views you could get in many other queenstown hotels, the view is a small river in a not-much-greenly vally. room is clean but just the toilet has odd smell, maybe the ventilation not very well. in overall cost-effective terms while its price is in the middle high, I would say it's ok.
