“Orussey Hotel”

We had read the previous reviews and booked on the basis that most people had said it was cheap, clean and well-located although not exactly geared towards tourists. We found it fine but, as mentioned by others, the tuk tuk driver would not go up the ramp so we had to walk. I would say that in terms of convenience for buses to/from Ho Chi Minh / Phnom Penh, the location of the bus terminal on the map is mis-leading if you are travelling on the Mekong Express (through no fault of the hotel I have to say). Although there is a booking office literally at the bottom of the ramp up to the hotel, we were dropped off from Phnom Penh at the Mekong Express terminal in the north of the city near the Japanese Bridge and had to get a tuktuk ($3). The next day we were travelling on to HCMC and again the bus left from the station in the North, so another $2 in a tuk tuk. Still, the price and quality of the room for that price made it worthwhile for a 24 hour stopover. No window in our room and it could've done with a coat of paint but the bed was clean and comfortable, we had wifi, hot shower and cable TV. Special mention to the reception staff, who I am not sure are too used to dealing with tourists, but we enquired at 8pm on the night we arrived about finding a tuk tuk driver to take us to the Killing Fields next day. They found us an english-speaking driver for a reasonable price who picked us up at 7.30 am. For the price, we would recommend to others for a short stay.

“great hotel for low budget and location”

I expected noise from the market below, the location and the low cost were the two main reasons for booking the hotel....but the constant droning from the air conditioner was very disturbing when trying to get some sleep. Also, upon arrival the cleanliness of the bedroom didn't look so bad, but the bathroom was something to be desired, it hadn't been cleaned before my arrival, and certainly wasn't cleaned during my stay.

“Save your money!!!”

My friend and I were very disappointed in our experience. First was location. It is on top of a noisy market in which only locals go. Must tuk tuk drivers took us to the wrong market assuming we could not be staying there. U must take a tuk tuk everywhere u go as most sights and restauraunts are along the water. The staff was friendly but language barriers made it unhelpful. We only saw one other person staying in the hotel over three days. The first room we were given had not been cleaned. The second was cleaner but still below expectations. We were told this was a place rooms were rented by the hour and also got a knock at our door late at night. Use your money better and stay near the riverfront.
