“very comfortable and convenient”

This is a very nice B&B which is conveniently located as it only takes about 15 minutes to walk into York city centre so didn't need to use the car for the whole stay. As soon as we arrived, we were provided with great local information by Alan. We felt very comfortable coming and going without interruption. As highlighted by the visitors book, the full English breakfast was lovely every day and having chatted to Alan, we were impressed with the owner's strive to source good quality local food. I would definitely stay again.

“Agree with all other reviews.”

Barrington House - Guest house is as it says on the tin, a guest house. Two staff made known, lady owner? and younger student who serves and cleans?. Accomodated late arrival due to traffic conditions, but be aware she does go to bed at 10.30pm! Top floor small back room, three flights of stairs not for anyone with disabilities, floral everywhere. Small slimline tv that does not have a strong enough signal for freeview, and terrestial is poor quality but just about watchable. Small toliet, small handbasin, small shower with low power, smells slightly as no natural ventilation and extractor fan is old. Bed comfortable and clean. Nice provisions tea / coffees not replenished for second night stay, Bottle of water appreciated but again not replenished for second night. Breakfast reasonable, good selection, fresh fruit is pasteurised sealed pots, yogurts are not refrigerated on display. Orange juiced topped up. Hot breakfast items are precooked and therefore temperature is variable. Lots of tourist information, will answer any questions on enquiry. Breakfast room is only for breakfast no other seating areas other than your room. So hope all above makes sense and yes I would stay there again!

“Barrington review”

The hotel was in a good location, 10 minutes from train station, 5 minutes from Bar convent. The room was comfortable and had nearly everything you needed. Staff very helpful and there was lots of tourirst leaflets They had magazines and books for guests to borrow Nice early cvheck in time available Improvements I would advise - herbal teabags in the rooms - improve showers, ours (room 5) was a trickle. get better quality toiletries and make sure conditioner is included, we had none. - offer more alternatives like kippers and mushrooms at breakfast
