“Will stay there again.”

Very convenient location - good restaurants and transport. Roomy and pleasant accommodation.

“Unfriendly.”

Not impressed.Staff consider phone calls more important than customers standing at the counter.Generally made little or no effort to assist in recommending local eateries,bars or places of interest.

“Fine staying here, but aspect a bit cramped”

Good location, clean, service fine, all facilities work. Bit cramped though: small outside terrace, but in the middle of the building so no privacy. For the same reason, you couldn't open the door for fresh air so had to rely on the aircon. Summary: fine to sleep, but you wouldn't want to stay inside for too long. For us this was fine because you can just walk downstairs to the cafes, restaurants, beach. You wouldn't want to stay there for work (and have to do some work inside).

Area recommendations

St Kilda is good. This weekend was leisure, but the following week for business. For business stayed across the road from convention centre. I wouldn't stay in St Kilda when on business in the city.

“Great location, nice rooms”

This hotel is in a great location, easy for St Kilda and trams all over. Rooms were good clean and comfortable. Wifi was being installed the week we were there, but should be free for staying guest. There is a carpark on site at a cost, but is helpful if you have a car.

“In the center of the action”

If you want to be in the middle of the restaurants and bars on Fitzroy St. this is the place to stay. The room was clean but beds were just 2 twins pushed together (of uneven height) disguised as a queen bed. But still it was only 3 blocks to the beach. Tram stops were half a block away, same with grocery store. Staff was very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help us. Outside of the beds, we enjoyed staying with them and would return again. Maybe they will invest in at least a real queen bed by then for some of the rooms.

Area recommendations

St. Kilda is great, others would be Yarra and South Yarra, Richmond, even the Central Business District (CBD) as they have many hotels and lots of shopping and restaurants. Melbourne is basically a clean city and taking the trams and trains and bus make getting around for a "right side driver" much preferred over trying to drive there. If you want to travel a bit, take the train from downtown to Geelong and go down the Great Ocean Road to Lorne. It's a beautiful beachside community. Basically anything South/East of the CBD we explored and all along the bay. Good food and fun, lots of shopping and nice people.

What to pack

Every hotel in Australia seemed to have a washer/dryer stack in the hotel room. They even have detergent available (some free) for your use. We would have brought many less clothes if we had known that.

“Hidden Treasure”

The facade is unassuming & these apartments are well hidden behind busy Fitzroy Street, but the result is a nice quiet room for a good nights sleep, but with all the buzz, the eateries & the bars St Kilda's has to offer, on your doorstep. The building's a bit of a maze to find your way around & a few more signs would help, but we will definitely use these apartments again - excellent value for money. The friendly efficiency of the receptionist (from Wagga) was also appreciated.

“David's review of Medina St Kilda”

Excellent service at the Medina. Only had a couple of minor issues with the room which was fixed instantly by staff. The Room was comfortable and clean. The staff all were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Melbourne and does want to stay in in the heart of the city.

Area recommendations

The Area surrounding the hotel had plenty of cafes and attractions close by public transport into the city 100 meters walk away. Albert Park was directly facing the hotel if you like walking through parks view city views. St kilda beach 10 minute walk away away or 5 minute tram ride.

Nightlife

Plenty of Bars and cafes on Fitzroy Street and also in the colorful AckLAND Street and the city 10-15 minutes tram ride away to all major parts of the city including Crown Casino,spencer Street and also Carlton

“great location great value”

The apartment was a great size for a couple the rooms were warm and there was a CD player and in-house movies (a charge). Local restaurants deliver to room if required and even though it was bitterly cold we ventured out and found a great local restaurant with open fire and reasonably priced food and drinks. Located near a supermarket and tram stop into the city. Staff helpful and friendly 24hour reception and taxi rank at door. Short walk to the beach where they have markets on Sunday.
