“Great Place”

Awsome hotel. Affordable, clean, comfortable, friendly staff, and well situated. Fantastic service for an Australian hotel, with a 24 hour front desk, luggage storage and room service. I also found the color schemes quite interesting and different. The only real negative, which is very slight, is the room service late at night. I got a pizza, which was bad even though I was quite drunk. It must be a pretty bad pizza to taste poorly while I am intoxicated. Still, the fact that they even offer room service at 2am at a hotel in this price range is impressive.

“Convenient Melbourne City Accommodation”

Our first experience of the Jasper Hotel was a very pleasant experience. The hotel was convenient to restaurants, the market and the city, with a tram stop right outside. The staff were very friendly and rooms well serviced. Would like to have had a microwave in the room to take advantage of all that fresh food available from the Queen Victoria Market. I have no hesitation in highly recommending the Jasper Hotel. We will certainly be back.

“Comfy and convenient, but not my idea of a 4 star.”

We arrived late due to a plane delay and were given a very friendly welcome, the staff were very polite and helpful during the whole of our stay. The hotel is conveniently located just outside Queen Victoria Market and the tram stop there means it's easy to get to the city centry, although we walked in - which is fairly painless. The hotel itself is clean. The room that we had - described as a queen deluxe - was fairly small and basic, I've stayed in four star hotels that have had much better appointed rooms, but it was comfy and did us for what we needed. It was quite noisy as we could hear aircon fans all the time (we were on the eighth floor) and the early morning noise of the market setting up. However, it wasn't noisy enough to keep us awake, which was good. The colour scheme of the place is quite strange. Our room, and I gather that other, if not all, rooms are the same, had a black ceiling. The corridors on each floor are painted in very bright (and I mean very bright) colours. Our floor was an almost flourescent green. Other floors that we saw were bright blue and red. I guess this means that you'll remember which floor you were on, but it was quite a shock when the lift doors opened for the first time.

“Pretty Average”

Hotel Location was good although the noise from outside is very loud. The room was kept in good condition and was always clean although no balconies made it feel small, cluttered and cramped.

“Lovely Service”

Jasper's hotel is a very clean and new hotel. The lobby is very nice and colourful with picture frames up too. Each floor is painted a different colour-great idea. The rooms are cosy and tidy. Very comfortable beds and nice bathroom. The service was great, late checkouts are easy. Great location a 30meter walk to the victoria markets, where we ate the best breakfast everyday. Really had a great stay at a great price through expedia!

Getting there
The sky bus from the airport was $26 return for students, this included a free bus drop off from the sky bus terminal to the hotel! The terminal is not too far away on the tram, but a bit of a walk. Don't taxi in peak hour traffic-take the tram!
Getting around
Don't taxi in peak hour traffic-take the tram! We used the trams for everything or walked-great transport!
Must see
Love never dies, second phantom of the opera show at the regent theater. Captain cooks hut in the fitzroy gardens, the crown casino, the shrine of rememberance, the art gallery, the melbourne museum the melbourne Zoo
Dining
Lanes edge on Bourke street, near parliament- had salmon and chickpea fritters for $21.90, wines are good the soup is amazing and the eating area is gorgeous. China town is expensive, but the lemon bistro-178-190 little bourke street is very nice, especially their roasted quail and prawns and oyster sauce. approx $20 a meal excluding rice. Great crepe place on Acland street in st kilda, just at the entrance of a mall place near last tram stop. French crepere in the city off collins street-very authentic and great. Market lane coffee-opposite victoria markets, Invictus cafe at the victoria markets-best museli with mango! and amazing soups and salads-esp the red lentil soup.
Nightlife
Madame Brussels on Bourke street, beautiful french garden themed rooftop cocktail lounge. Crown Casino
Events and shows

“Very noisy”

The staff were very friendly and helpful but the room was very noisy. You can hear every noise from the street. It sounded like all the windows were open. Also the walls are very thin as you can clearly hear conversations in the rooms either side. But it was in a great location with a tram stop out the front. The rooms away from busy Elizabeth St may be less noisy?

Area recommendations
CBD - great shopping with great factory outlets nearby.
Shopping
DFO at South Warf was fantastic. I had to stop shopping because I couldn't carry anymore.

“Home away from home”

I recently stayed at the Jasper Hotel for 12 nights and it really felt like a home away from home. The staff were attentive but not "in your face". The design of the hotel was simple and subtle but not boring, and still very comfortable. Location was fine, just on the edge of the CBD with trams right outside the front door. I'd definitely stay here again.
