“Not Impressed”

The overall cost was too much comparing to other hotels in the area. The room was very small and it was supposed to be the deluxe.

“George Thanopoulos - Sydney”

The staff was very friendly and promptly helpful when needed, the room was clean and had a good view to the park ... generally speaking a good hotel to stay, at least for me, because I could also enjoy the pool - when it did not rain ! - and the fitness, and of course the security measures were good as also the breakfast buffet, even if you arrive late ...

Area recommendations
if a park is near then it is okay, there is also the possibility for a bay walk or a a walk to near by Malate - it depends on the interests of every person individually
Getting there
the easiest is to take a taxi
Getting around
you can go on foot to the park, to the bay, to intramuros ..
Other
If you cannot go out, for example because of flooding streets (typhoon) you d better stay in hotel

“It was better last year.”

I last there last year and it wasn't that bad. But this year was terrible. The first room I checked into was very old carpet, wallpaper, tv, even the entire bathroom. I didn't have water in the room and the refrig was empty. I had to wait almost 1 whole day until I was able to get another room. Plus, they charge you every time you pick up the phone. I even had a PDLT card and the charged me for using there phone because I had a card. I will not stay here ever again.

Area recommendations
Please stay close to the airport. Also threaten the cab drivers and they will come down on the prices since they are trying to ripped us off anyway.

“The hotel was once nice...and it was years ago.”

I booked two rooms for my family and requested for adjacent rooms and i got one room on 14th floor and the other on the 18th floor. The location is superb and very accessible to foods, shopping and public transportation. I dont consider this hotel family friendly since we saw a lot of "prostitutes" and their customers all over the hotel, well its in Ermita area the famous red light district of manila. The bathrooms are nasty and needs to be renovated, the shower rod is rusty, and i had to call the maintenance since part of the ceiling is not there ! (apparently somebody went there and fixed it and forgot to put that part of the ceiling back), the housekeeping should be told to work better since i found about an inch thick dust behind the night stand. The lobby is small but elegant, breakfast is good but needs variety. On the good side, the staff are real pleasant and helpful.

Area recommendations
Intramuros and Luneta- highlights the country's history Robinsons Mall in Ermita- walking distance to the mall. Shopping, bar, dining, movies, bank, etc. Everything in one roof. Manila Ocean Park- Only oceanarium in the country with dancing water fountains and fish spa SM Mall of Asia- the 3rd biggest mall in the world.

“Waterfront Pavilion Hotel and Casino, Manila”

I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. The Casino and the Lobby are the only two places that are kept clean. My Junior Suit looks like a horror movie from the 70's... The furniture is so old is falling apart and every chair has a stain. The carpet has a stench and every other inch on the carpet has a stain. The only good thing about this hotel is the people. They know how bad the hotel is but they still treat you like the number one guest. The location and the services 4 star. The rest of the hotel 2 star.

Area recommendations
I would recommend Intramuros tour in the city. It tells part of the history of the Phillippines during the spanish colonization.
Getting around
The best way to travel in Manila is to rent a car with a driver. They know everything about the area and other interesting places that you will enjoy.

“disappointed”

the 1st thing i noticed was the overwhelming smell of smoke in the lobby ;coming from the casino within the hotel. the hotel was "renovating" throughout various floors and the wifi (although "free") was unsatifactory

“Don't do it”

Maybe worth the money, but I don't think so. Most none Filipinos will not like the constant heat of the room. I actually asked to change rooms in hopes of getting something decent, was the same issues: always a bit warm and muggy in room, mold through out bathroom, dirty appearance in general. Close to Manila Bay, but still far enough most people will take a taxi. The food was not terrible though. My suggestion is spend a little more and go to nicer hotel. The hotel people were nice...but it's Philippines...they are nice everywhere.

Area recommendations
Somewhere else. The Hilton maybe or a resort.

“We would go back BUT would go the extra $ to upgrade room status”

Must of been a High glass hotel in its' hey day. As on previous others reveiws it does have sad carpeting in the rooms and maybe needs a lick of paint here and there but who gives a fig. WHEN it has an ideal location , Staff willing to go the extra mile to satisfy your needs.and always a smile and polite word. Buffet breakfast inclusive and great eateries right in the hotel[ The rest of hotel from its' entrance , reception, casino ,gym, rest rooms ,Bar, Patressrie are all well presented . Security on entrances makes it that much safer. We will go back.

Area recommendations
Any area is relative to what you are interested in . Manila city suited us ,close to harbour ,overlooking Rizal Park ,and close to Robinsons' shopping mall, cinemas etc
What to pack
If you are a fair sized woman as myself ,don't expect to find big sizes, shoes, clothing as the local women are petite .Just bring everything you need...But as far as jewelery, fragrances, make up and any thing else . ENJOY . My husband was mostly casual in jeans , shirts.. Shopping in Mall[Supermarket] for alcohol was a far cheaper proposition than bar fridge in room.

“Not What I Expected”

Walking in the hotel, the lobby was impressive. But when we arrived on the 17th floor (this is on both times we stayed in Manila Pavillon), the carpet on the flooring needs desperate upgrade.you can smell that it is old. The furnishing in the room needs re-varnishing at least to keep up with the quality of all waterfront hotels in the Philippines. The mini-bar is empty on both times yet reception asked you of a 2,000 pesos deposit for incidentals. Food at breakfast is of great selection but service of staff is not really satisfactory. U have to find ur own seat, no one comes and serve u coffee not even around on easy access in case u need to ask of anything. The only thing worth mentioning for is how helpful the concierge has been and how good the lobby looks. The hotel really needs a good facelift to keep up with the modern world.

Area recommendations
I would probably recommend Swagman Hotel. As an Australian owned hotel, it is no surprise that it is very down to earth, the staff are friendly, the room is clean and the mini-bar is full.
