“just off the beaten path, perfect for getting to downtown Hannover, or biking walking”
Viva Creativo was even more than I expected. It was a cross between a boutique hotel and a bed-and-breakfast. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful on the weekends and during the week. I stayed Saturday-Tuesday night (4 days) and it was great every day. Each room had a different decor, and the grounds were amazing. There were fruit trees, at least half a hectare (one acre) of grass, multiple ponds with fish and fountains and full plantings. It was exactly what I wanted in a quiet, middle class/upper middle class safe established Hannover neighborhood. This is perfect for a business traveler like me who wants quiet; or, for a family with or without children. If you want to walk across the street to a trendy club, then Viva Creativo is not for you. You can jump on the frequent, clean quiet bus for a 4 minute trip to the street car/subway line that takes you directly to the center of Hannover. Or you can walk 12-14 minutes, or borrow one of the hotels dozen free bicycles and ride the 5 minute bike trip yourself. I used the bicycle daily for 4 days, and rode on the bike paths, along the rivers with no car traffic, and explored.

“Lacking in 4* Amenities”
This hotel is just not worthy of a 4* rating. Using the Expedia hotel star rating this hotel is only suited to a 2* rating. The overall feel of the hotel is rather cheap and lacks any grandess offered by other 4* hotels. We ended up in a golf themed room which was rather tacky in its decor and lacked anything stylish or of high-quality. It was also lacking in hot water on the morning of our check out! The key entry is a chore if there is more than one person as you are unable to enter the building where your room is if one person has gone to their room ahead of the other. Although the personal service received from the reception person was good it was not sufficient as there are no additional services such as concierge or room service and the reception closes completely at 10pm. There is no fine-dining restaurant on the premises but instead "La Vivezza" next door which although looks inviting the staff inside certainly are not. The buffet breakfast was very poor with a limited selection of food and some of the crockery was dirty. On the plus side as this was a last minute booking we did get a good deal but we would not be impressed with paying the full price for this hotel. Also this hotel is ahead of others in Germany having the "coffee 2 go" in the reception and a few complimentary drinks in your mini bar which makes up for not having any tea/coffee making facilities in your room or room service.
