“Relaxing and friendly”
The very friendly staff were the best thing about this hotel - they couldn't have been more helpful and were chatty and funny without being overbearing or intrusive. The hotel is a bit out of town but only a bus ride away from the centre and they were happy to give us very detailed instructions on how and where to get the bus there and back. It is walkable too, especially downhill into town. The last bus back is before midnight but a taxi is only about 12 euros. The pool is small but very clean and there's plenty of room to lounge around and relax. The decor is a little old fashioned but in a good way - it doesn't seem shabby and fits in with the whole vibe, even down to old school airmail paper and envelopes with the hotel logo in the room! Small minus is that the air conditioning is central so you can't control your own room temp if it's not on, and also it would be nice to have a fridge in the room. The other guests while we were staying were a good mix of nationalities and ages and included couples, familes and single travellers of all ages. We really enjoted our stay and would book there again.
“Still great after twenty years”
It's a great hotel given the cost and proximity to Florence. The hotel is close to the Autostrade and about a 15 minute bus ride from the center of Florence. We left our car at the hotel whenever we went into the city. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden with an outside terrace. The pool is small, but great for a cooling dip in the late afternoon. The free breakfast buffet is adequate and the staff is always ready to prepare eggs and bacon if you prefer. Can't say enough about the staff who were most accommodating, given that they must answer the same questions over and over. My husband and I stayed there over 20 years ago and were delighted to find it as lovely as it was way back then.
