Opened in 1989 in a sixteenth-century ancient residence, Il Guelfo Bianco is a hotel full of charm, where age-old tradition is elaborated with the recent, loving restoration work, which brought Show more to life the ancient fifteenth century-structures, and the widespread use of contemporary paintings and works of art from the Luisa and Alessandro Bargiacchi Collection, who are also the proprietors of the hotel. the reading room or quiet room of Il Guelfo Bianco was created to provide tranquility while reading newspapers, magazines and books or checking out the guides to Florence. Our guests can also avail of our 24-hour Internet point. The large, bright breakfast room with its characteristic brick ceilings was especially designed to help you pleasantly begin your day. One of our little gems is the internal garden, a fabulous oasis where we also serve breakfast during the spring and summer mornings. But most of all, what makes Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco so pleasant is the attention we pay our guests. You are central to our philosophy of warmth, allowing guests to feel at home even if far away and to ensure your holiday in Florence is truly unforgettable, with us playing our part. Hide

“Good value convenient hotel”

Convenient location 5 mins from Duomo. Good local restaurants nearby which the staff told me about. Wide range of food in breakfast buffet. Staff helpful and pleasant, made my room warmer during a cold spell of weather. Would stay there again and recommend it. Good value for money

“Excellent hotel; can't wait to go back.”

Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco is conveniently located only a couple of blocks away from Duomo, Galleria dell'Accademia, and is within walking distance from the train station. Although there is a McDonald's right next door at the street corner, you probably will never find chance to use it, as the continental breakfast included with the stay is more elaborated than many others have to offer, and there are plenty of good restaraunts around Duomo. We have a family of four with two teen agers; we were pleasantly surpprised by the excellent size of the room and the large, clean, well-appointed bathroom. The hotel is housed in a historical-looking building; the rooms have very high ceilings; our room has traditionally carved wooden ceiling panels; the room and the closet are all decorated with carved wood panel doors; a wooden bar with a marble counter top separates the main sleeping area from the sitting/extra bed area, where a flora arrangement decorates the table. A block away towards Duomo is a big out-door market, where you can bargain-hunt for sourveniors or refill your beverage supply at the grocery. Overall, the location is great, an easy stroll to any of the main attractions in Florence; in the evening you may hang out at the Piazzas around Duomo, as they are only a few steps away; the room is of high quality, you probably wont' find many 3-star hotels at this quality; what we enjoyed the most, of course, is that staying in this hotel do make us enjoy Florence more.

“Great hotel, great location, great staff”

A very nice little hotel in an excellent location in Florence, with lots of historical character. Although on a main street, there are two sets of double paned glass on each window, so the rooms are very quiet. Excellently located within a two to three block stroll of the Duomo, Academia, San Lorenzo and San Marco. The staff was extremely accommodating, making sure that some special needs were met and getting espresso for us at 5 a.m. before we headed to the airport. Il Desco off the lobby is an excellent place for lunch or a late afternoon snack with a nice glass of wine. Very good breakfast (including some meats, cheese and wonderful fresh mozarella from Il Desco) .

“Loved it!”

We loved this hotel. It was easy walking distance from the train station; and had charming decor. The staff, especially Julia, were very helpful and friendly. It is not in the heart of everything; but since most everything is within 15 minutes walking distance, that is ok!

“A wonderful find”

We stayed in this hotel in March for three days.I know Florence quite well and am delighted to have found such a spotless and charming place to stay. The staff were delightful, the room excellent and the price reasonable. The location was extremely good too especially after we had found one or two good local restaurants. This is ahotel I would definitely return to.
