“Athenaeum-1”
Everything about this hotel was excellent including the restaurant and atmosphere. The hotel has a parking garage which is a blessing in Florence. It is within walking distance of the Accademia, the Uffizi, Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. It is, however, on the expensive side as is everything in Florence (don't buy anything in the Uffizi cafeteria).
“Perfect City Break Hotel”
On arrival you are greeted by an imaginative, modern decor, and a helpful staff who speak English if you feel less than confident in your own Italian. When you overcome the initial disappointment of slightly smaller than expected bedrooms you appreciate their comfort and the excellent bathrooms... hot water at all times being a major bonus. Breakfasts are full and varied and highly recommended before embarking on a visit to the town. The Duomo is just a 10 minutes stroll away (and I have a walking stick)I wiuld recommend the Hotel Athenaeum unreservedly.
“Loved this hotel”
We spent three nights the first week of April at this hotel. The front desk staff was great and very helpful. They made reservations for us at the Uffizi while we were on a day trip to Pisa. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is huge. The restaurant serves great food and an awesome chocolate souffle. It is walking distance to the Accademia and close to most sights but far enough away that it is quiet. Would definitely stay here again if I return to Florence.
“Florence July 2011 - a good hotel in Flor. finally!!!”
Great Hotel, a little away from my usual stomping ground but in a way an added bonus as it was even more quiet. I'm going back - if the price is right!
“One of Florence's finest”
Hotel extremely comfortable with very helpful staff. Very convenient for seeing all the sights. The resturant served very good food. If I had a criticism (and it would be a very small criticism) it would be that the room we had was at the front of the hotel and looked out over the road which could be noisey at certain times of day. Apart from this we could not fault the hotel.
“great deal”
i stayed four days at this hotel and another three days at another hotel which is rated no. 1 on travelocity. i paid half here of what i paid at this other hotel. there is no comparison. athenaeum is a much better deal in every way.
“Good Value for Money”
Location was ok.Staff was friendly and help ful.Offered an umbrella as it was raining!! WE could check out and leave our luggage for later collection!! Also ggod advice on travel onwards. Continental breakfast was good.overall had a relaxing stay though it was for 1 night only
“Good Location, Great Price, Carpacious Room”
Having endured a cupboard sized hotel room in Paris for 5 nights the Hotel Athenaeum was a welcome respite. The room we stayed in was twice the size of its Parisian counterpart at two-thirds the price. What I also liked about this hotel is that it is really quite new, and the decor is contemporary bordering on chic. A modern hotel with all the contemporary trappings is actually quite at odds with the historical edge of Fair Firenze, and perhaps that's what makes it work - take in the sights and the gravitas of the Renaissance era during the day, but bathe in the luxury of modernity at night. Breakfast was included in the fee and it was quite good - fresh fruit salad, cereal, juices, coffee, cheeses, cold meats and cakes were all inclusive. Extra for things like eggs and bacon etc. In terms of location not bad, but the hotel is far from the centre of the action. It's about 20 minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio which isn't alot unless it rains, then 20 minutes seems like 20 miles. The Riflessi which is the restaurant in the hotel was surprisingly good and well priced. They supplied their own in-house baked bread, as well as Tuscan olive oil. The food was tasty, and the chef managed to "create" some dishes that were unexpectedly different and unique. In room broadband internet was free all you really need is a broadband cable and a little techie know-how to really make it work. Overall I was very impressed by this hotel and would recommend to anyone travelling to Florence.
“Great hotel”
Very comfortable hotel.
“Perfect location”
The location was perfect!!! Super close to the train station and only a few blocks from the historical district. The entire city is walkable from here. Sylvia at the front desk was the kindest hotel representative we encountered in all of Italy. The restaurant at the hotel was delicious and it's staff very friendly as well.
