“Not a great hotel”
Not the best hotel experience, but not horrible. Internet didn't work whatsoever, but the front desk let us borrow the office PC for a while which wasn't ideal, but fine for what we needed. Air conditioner did not work at all and the room was very hot, even though the outside temperature wasn't very hot at all. Had to open the room door and window for a long time to get some fresh air though the room. Bed and pillows were very hard/not comfortable. TV worked fine, but no English channels at all. Room was pretty clean. Common areas were somewhat run down, but not bad. The breakfast had some good items, but the eggs for instance were just dark yellow crust on the pan. Location was fine, though there is not much other than the highway and residential area around it (and we knew to expect Holiday Inn signs after reading other reviews). The hotel is just off the Autostrada highway, but the noise wasn't bad at all with a room on the backside anyway. Nice view of the ocean. Overall seems like an old hotel that hasn't been maintaned well (possibly why it is no longer a Holiday Inn). Front desk staff was friendly and it was passable for a one night stay.
“unfriendly to americans”
the front desk had the rudest person we met in all of Italy. We have family in Trieste, Muggia and Isola and will be back often, but never to this hotel. It is between two major highways, and walking around there is dangerous, no sidewalks, and nothing close by.
