“Kingston”
great location, centre of town over looking the harbour and got a great deal on price
“Reasonable price and very clean room.”
Reasonable price and very clean room. Small hotel but good place to rest
“Easy to get to.”
Grand location. Nice place. Great alternative to a room in Dublin.
“Picturesque but needs better care”
The hotel is picturesque with a wonderful view of the harbour. The pub staff in the evening were very nice. If I had been staying only one or two nights I might have been more pleased. The breakfast was fine. But the quality of the houskeeping was attrocious. The floor in the room was never vacummed and contained lumps that should have been cleaned up before ever putting a person in a room. While I noiced a vaccum in the hall when the houskeeping cart was out, I doubt that they ever used it. Likewise, they never changed the sheets in the 8 days I was there. And worst of all, one evening I came back to my room with the door proped open by the wet towel that I had used in the moning after my shower. It was like the housekeeping staff just quit working. When I brought it to the attention of the evening desk attendant, I was just told that it should never of happened. I was told that it is a safe place and asked if anything was missing. When I said that I did not notice anything missing I was just told that they would have a word with the housekeeping staff. There was no attempt to compensate me for the problem. I never even received an appology from the management and don't know whether they heard of it or not. Likewise, the quality of the bed left a lot to be desired. Each morning I woke up with a back ache, which I did not have before or after my stay there. It could be a lot better if management took an active role in seeing to the cmfort of those who stay in its loggings.
“Fawlty Towers with a good view”
The room, albeit a single room, was tiny. The decor was very old fashioned and in need of modernisation. There was a kettle and TV though. There was an overpowering smell from the bathroom which I can only imagine to be from the waste pipe which was revolting. The extractor in the bathroom was furred up. However, the shower was hot so that was some consolation. I ordered room service and that was prompt and very good and the hotel reception staff were very helpful. When the heating was on, the room was warm but in the night I was so cold I couldn't sleep. There was only a thin blanket and sheet on the bed. The windows were old metal windows and draughty. The walls were so thin, I could hear the man next door snoring and at 5am I had to call the concierge to get him to turn off his blaring TV. He kept on snoring so loudly I had no sleep at all. The best thing was the view. In the morning when I pulled back the curtains, I looked out on to sea with the sun shining on the water and boats bobbing in Dublin bay. Definitely would not stay there again and wouldn't not recommend it to anyone. It reminded me of Fawlty Towers.
