“I want to go back to the hotel!”
The staffs are all very very nice people and we enjoyed staying there.
“Great hotel in a nice location!”
Great location, within walking distance from the main square. We did the Inca trail and had to store our excess baggage at the hotel, they were quite helpful to address our needs and concerns. Friendly staff. Great wifi.
“Fantastic hotel and host”
We loved Mercedes & our stay at Hostel Girasoles. Our plane was late and Mercedes waited almost an hour to pick us up and gave us big hugs.On the way to the Girasoles, she took us to a travel agent to buy bus tickets from Agua Calientes to Machu Picchu, because we worried that they may sell out. Coca tea was waiting for us in the lobby to help with altitude sickness.Because we were staying 3 days we took advantage of the Tripadvisor free 3 hr city tour coupon, bilingual tour guide- included Korichancha/Santo Domingo,Sacsayhuaman,Qenko,Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. She also recommended a great restaurant ½ block away, the Gustito Gringo where we had delicious grilled lamb, alpaca and trout, and fine grilled vege lunch sandwiches. She also arranged for taxis and confirmed the taxi fare to bring us to the Poroy train station (20 soles) and to the Cusco airport. Mercedes advised us on a strategy for our hike up to Huayna Picchu, so we could guarantee being in the first 200 hikers on the 7am slot and held our luggage without charge for our one night in Agua Calientes.Tasty breakfasts with bread, jam, butter, cake, juice, tea, and coffee. The plaza is only a 7 min walk with nice shops,Gatos supermarket, El Meson resfaurant with roast cuy. and money exchanges along the way. Also free wifi for our netbook which was very helpful to check in for our flights. Mercedes treated us like we were her own family. We highly recommend this as a fantastic place to stay.
“Great Staff”
The room was very comfortable, but be sure to ask for an extra blanket. (Cusco gets very cold at night) Mercedes met me at the airport and was very helpful with whatever one needed as a tourist. Breakfast was ok and always fresh. Not a buffet, but the cook asked to make sure I had enough. Nice people. It is down an alley that taxis don't always go on, but it's only a 1 or 2 minute walk from the road. Take advantage of their free airport pickup and it's all a breeze.
“Good place to stay in Cusco”
Hotel Girasoles has a great staff and is in an excellent location!
“Home away from home in downtown Cusco”
Hotel Girasoles provides excellant service for the budget traveller, we were met at Cusco Airport by Laura who pointed out sights of the city and provided information on money exchange and good shopping areas enroute to the hotel. Our room was light and airy, the private bathroom clean and functional and plenty of hotwater in the shower (Cold water only at the basin). The room was serviced to a very good standard daily. Breakfast was scrambled or fried egg, juice, bread rols and jam, plus Tea or coffe. The Hotel arranged excellant value tours with pick up at the hotel. Wifi was good in common areas but a little erratic in the rooms. Our bags were stored whilst we were on the four day INCA Trail walk and ready for us when we arrived back late at night post walk. Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff and an ideal local in the old part of Cusco: PS they are extending the hotel upwards so it can only get better
“Not bad for students, backpackers and couples...”
Had to pay in cash after being told they didn't ake credit cards when it clearly said they did on this site. Besides that, free bfast was good as well as central location to main square. Also the hotel is on a dead end street and is kinda hard for a taxi to find...
“Thanks Girasoles.”
Girralsoles was my first experience in Cusco and I am very pleased that I chose to stay there first. The airport pickup was great, avoided the usual airport taxi sharks, and its always a relief to see your name on a board after a very long trip. Room was great, albeit a bit cold being mid-winter, however the bed was comfortable and had plenty of blankets so very comfortable. The staff were very freindly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone, from single backpackers to groups and families. Although the hotel is located down a small backstreet it is only a very short walk to the main plaza, a walk I took at all times of the day and night with no problems.
“Convenient and close to square”
This hotel was convenient. Close to square and some good restaurants. The rooms were clean. Felt like a very safe neighborhood to walk to the main square.
“Average not great!”
We stayed in 2 hostales in Aguas Calientes and Ollantay and they were much nicer than this place. Hard beds, no night staff. Have to knock on door all the time to get into hostal. Dog surprises up and down cooridor from street to hostal. Overall, disappointing.
