“Great City Hotel location”

Hotel was in a great location very cloase to shops,bars etc.Hotel well maintained and very clean.Hotel staff very freindly and very helpful.Would have no hesitation in staying there again should i ever visit Christchurch.

“Oaks Smartstay Christchurch”

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough particularly given the price of the room. I stayed there for three nights and was very impressed. The room I had was very comfortable, clean and well equipped - all the standard stuff you`d expect plus sink , hob, microwave fridge etc. It also had crockery and cutlery for two people. I didn`t use the broadband connection but one was available. The hotel is located with bars, restaurants close at hand. When I arrived late on Friday night with stacks of people around. When I got to my room I didn`t notice any excessive noise / music. Access to hotel, lift and room is by the electronic key card. There`s a charge if you lose it . The only point that surprised me was that I wasn`t charged when I made the reservation. The charge was made when I checked out, which was not what I had expected. The only other point to mention is that the room was not cleaned daily, not that it made too much difference except when I didn`t hangup the damp towels to dry after my first night. I stay in many hotels as I am a frequent business traveller around the world and this place was much better than many others that cost 4 and 5 times more per night.

“Excellent - Oaks on Cashel”

Stayed at these apartments for a few nights in October. They were clean, modern and in a very central location. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of Christchurch and all the attractions. Highly reccomended.

“Not bad and central”

Wind whistles under door - sounds liek a hurricane. No laundry service - towels, bed line - beacuse it's an "apartment". But good value, modern, and very central.

“I stay on Cashel”

Cooking smells from other Asian guests was very pervasive one night when the temperature was about 35 C and doors onto passage way were left open.

“Good value if you need a central location.”

Service at this hotel was decent, mostly since they are so used to people complaining about the rooms that they will grant any request within reason. It took us 4 times to get our room key card activated properly. The room was perfect for our needs, but 2 of the lights were missing bulbs and the bed practically touched the floor when you lied on it. The hotel was packed the weekend we stayed so we didn't bother to complain about the lights or the bed. The wanted $25 a day to park the car, but there was street parking available for free so that's what we used. Internet was $15 per day for 500mb. One of the days the server went out for several hours so we were not charged for the whole day. I thought that was nice. Our room (executive suite) had a patio which we shared with the room next door. The patio was definitely a plus. With the deal we got on expedia I was very happy with our stay. I would have been very upset if we had paid full price. Overall we genuinely enjoyed our stay and were happy.

“Great Value & Great Location!!!”

We arrived late on Jan 4th to the iStay for one week and had no troubles at all. It was located right downtown, in a perfect location. Lots of shops, restaurants, and sight-seeing within walking distance. We got a deal through Expedia, which is what we were looking for. Our package did not include room service each day. It was available at an extra charge if you wanted it, as were many other items such as face cloths, extra bath towels, hand towels, shampoo/conditioner, etc. We had brought all that stuff ourself, so we didn't mind not having it, but if you are someone who does require this type of stuff be sure to book the appropriate package, otherwise you will be paying for a lot of extras. Staff was always friendly and helpful, and the hotel is really clean and well kept. There was no air conditioning in our room, so we just made sure to keep the blinds pulled to keep the heat to a minimum. Overall we enjoyed our stay :)

“Oaks On Casel - Great value for a short Stay”

I would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay. The rooms are smallish but when you are out and about for most of the day, it doesn’t really matter. The Hotel is in a great location and close to all the major sights and amenities. Other reviewers have complained about the noise from the nearby nightclubs. I didn’t have an issue in terms of the noise factor but I certainly noticed and heard the clubbers when waiting for the Shuttle bus at 7am on a Sunday morning. The front desk staff were excellent. My only grip were the security cards to the rooms. Each time it took me at least 5 attempts to get the room door open. When I mentioned it to the front desk when checking out, the person mentioned this has been an on-going issue

“Perfect start for your South Island trip”

Arrived late at night due to a late flight from Australia. Reception were very organised and had our key waiting. Room was nice and ok size with a kitchenette, balcony, desk and king size bed. We stayed for 4 nights and were pretty impressed. Especially as we saved money by being able to cook at the hotel. It is the perfect location for seeing Christchurch. The only downside would be the fact that there was no room service or re-fill of tea/coffee etc. But this is why it is so cheap to stay there. You can pay an extra fee if you feel the need to have someone make the bed for you!! Upon departure we were able to leave our luggage in a locked area whilst we picked up the hire car. Great stuff.

“Unusual stay”

The "Smartstay" refers to the amount of service you receive from the hotel. It is basic but comfortable, clean and adequate, but you can "Buy in" aditional services such as bed making to increase your level of luxury. The room was fairly small but fully equipped with kitchenette etc. It is quite well placed for public transport etc. and we were easily able to park on the street overnight for free although meters start at 9 a.m.
