“Great Resort!”
We came here for our honeymoon, the resort was amazing! The staff went out of their way to be sure that all guests were properly taken care of. The food at the resort was very good and reasonably priced. The pool was fantastic, it was set up to really add to the fact that you are in the rain forest!! Kewarra was also great about helping us set up two great excursions - Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef and a train/ski lift trip thru the rain forest! The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We would recommend this to anyone, and hope to someday get back!!
“Wow what a superb place!”
We had set our sights on going to Cairns for our honeymoon. After researching many of the hotels in the area the Kewarra Beach Resort had some great reviews. Wow it is a superb location to stay in. Set in a well established rain forrest setting, the private individual timber apartments were superb providing you with privacy. The two pools which have been constructed to blend perfectly in the theme were great to relax in after a day on the Barrier Reef or after horse riding in the Kuranda. With it's own private beach watching the sunset, whilst lying in a hamock, was paradise. As for the restuarant all we can say is that the food, wine and service was 10/10. To summarise it all up we would recomend staying at the Kewarra Beach Resort to anyone who wants that little bit of something special for their holiday/honeymoon.
“best place to forget it all and get lost in the jungle ...with a great cook !”
the staff is fantastic, the bungalows lost in this tropical jungle are marvellous they have a great cook (we are franc !)and had dinner there every evening the free pick up at the airport is nice too we enjoyed feeling at the other part of this world in yet a cosy place
“Gorgeous establishment”
This resort is simply beautiful. It is about 15 min north of Cairns, tucked in among the rainforest with its own private beach. The rooms are individual bungalows and are very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and took care of our every need. Parking is onsite and free. I wish we'd had more time in Cairns; this was without a doubt my favorite place of my entire travels in Australia.
“Very nice but somewhat remote”
This is a very nice, quiet resort on Kewarra beach. Individual cabins are clean and well maintained and offer a porch setting to enjoy the tropical evenings. We enjoyed the stay here very much. The only drawbacks are the limited eating options with one restaurant on-site and nothing else nearby. Getting to town or anywhere else is a problem if you don't have an auto. The shuttle only runs a few times a day, and the city bus takes 1 hour to get to downtown Cairns. Service is good but the reception desk is not staffed 24 hours, but only during the peak hours. Despite some limitations, I would recommend this resort if an active nightlife scene is not important.
“The hotel's private beach”
The private beach in front of the hotel is average. The sand and the water are not indicative of an exclusive resort in The Great Barrier Reaf. For a nicer beach scene It is worth the 50 mile journey up the coast to Port Douglas. Otherwise the hotel setup is great, the service is great and the pool area is very good.
“Mixed feelings - it is great for wilderness seekers.”
Air Conditioning via window air conditioners made it difficult to sleep since it directly blew on you while you were sleeping.
“Kewarra Beach in December”
We did not like the place. Bungalo setting did not correspond to advertized photos. Staff was often indifferent and not readily accomodating. Hotel condition: needs facelift badly for those high prices they charge. Rain forest setting needs more maintenance; we saw 2 people couple times - that was clearly not enough. Cuisine is slightly above average. Swimming pools closed at 7PM, sometimes with guests still sitting there (at least this happened to us). Ocean was useless due to stingers period. Net protected swimming area belongs to Kewarra town not resort. Setting is away from everything, which allows local restaurant to keep monopoly with respective prices. Good: our goal was Australia itself, and it was great, so we considered our resort as just a place to sleep. But we expected much more for the money we paid.

“Mosquito infested swamp, poor food, poor transport”
We were in a room that was supposed to face the "lagoon". It was actually a mosquito infested swamp with muddy water. There is quite a distance walking to our room. They said there will be path will be lit at night - it was not and for the first night, we were groping in pitch darkness, worried that there might be snakes. When we told Reception, they gave us torches!! The food was also dreadful. The worst thing is there is only 1 shuttle a day which they charge for. There is no shuttle at night. Cost of going into the city is A$54 one way - as the food at the hotel was so bad, we had to go to the city. They also charge for transferring you to the airport. Very disappointing indeed!
