“Great relaxed holiday apartment”
The hosts of the Grosvenor in Cairns were extremely helpful and friendly. They made us feel very much at home and gave us great advice regarding the local area upon check-in. The apartment we stayed in was large, comfy and clean. The kitchen was well equipped so we could easily cook at the apartment when we didn't want to eat out. There is a nice warm pool and communal BBQ are outside which were great to use. Thanks for a great stay.
“Very friendly welcome”
Having arrived in the usual tired state from a long flight, the welcome we received was excellent. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It compensated for the 'tired' state of our bathroom. The hotel was styled along motel lines but proved to be comfortable and perfectly adequate for our stay. It is located about 5 -10 minutes' walk from the sea front esplanade and 15 - 20 mins from downtown Cairns. Very good value for money
“Not impressed”
My husband and myself and our 2 adult children stayed for 5 days in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. I can genuinely say that I do not complain very often but the state of this hotel was really disappointing. This hotel did not live up to our expectations or its 4 star rating. The apartment was located on the 4th floor (stairs only access). Upon opening our apartment door we were immediately overwhelmed with the an extreme musty smell which was especially strong in each bedroom. We were forced to buy air fresheners and carpet deodorant to try to hide the smell. The apartment was spacious and was generally clean but in desperate need of refurbishment, especialy the cane lounge which was old and uncomfortable. The fridge and Televisions had also seen better days. The positive point about the hotel was that its external appearance and pool facilities were more visually appealing. We had been travelling for 4 weeks and staying in mainly 4 star hotels aong the easten coast of Australia and I would have to say this would be the worst we had stayed in and we were all very relieved to move on. So although clean and spacious and reasonably close to city centre and the Esplanade (20 minue walk), the poor condition of the furnishings and the overepowering musty smell mae our stay an unpleasent one
“Checked out after 1 night.”
It is not a hotel.Hostel only. The studio room was shabby and dirty! The fridge was covered in rust with a takeaway menu stuck to it. The bed head was dusty with hairs all over it. I was there 1 night and slept on a towel on top of the bed for an hour or so. There were people up and down the tiled stair case all night slamming doors. You could not even get a bottle of water there. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
