“Cairns Luxery Retreat”

"WOW" located on the Esplanade, we stayed in an apartment, Hugh balcony overlooking Trinity Bay facing the Hilton and Pullman Casino. Cairns main shopping area centrally located on the doorsteps. Restaurants adjacent to the Hotel Foyer on the Esplanade.

Area recommendations

Go see the Great Barrier Reef, the Reef Boat Terminal is located 5metres from the Hotel.

“Would book again!!”

This was our first impression of Australia. After traveling for 27 hours, we found that we were missing a bag. Casey was incredible in helping us recover the missing bag from the airlines. We checked in Friday night. When we returned Saturday afternoon after an excursion, the missing suitcase was in our room. The one bedroom apartment was spacious and clean. It even came with a washer and dryer. The only drawback, if I had to name one, is that the internet was $20 a day on top of the room, but the lobby had free wifi.

“Ideal location”

We were booked on the Big Cat Island trip which made the Harbor Lights Hotel a perfect location as the harbor is right out the back door. In the other direction, the walk to the shops area was lovely as well. There was an internet cafe nearby which was helpful. Our one bedroom accommodation was very nice with a kitchenette and rooftop deck, which was a prime location to watch the colony of gigantic fruit bats circling at dusk. The second bed we had asked for, however, was the fold out couch which was, well, a foldout couch. Nevertheless, overall, it was a good experience. The staff, were helpful when asked. Upon arrival no one offered to help us with our bags, which is fine, but unusual. Is that Australian? This hotel has an ultra modern, minimalist lobby, which was not inviting as a place to spend any more time in than walking through. Again, just an observation. The Italian restaurant, Olana's, in the same building, could have been a nicer experience than it was. There was hardly any customers in the restaurant at the time, but the staff still seemed too busy to pay any attention to us. A bottle of water cost $9 Australian. The food there was good, however.

“Will stay there again”

Nice, clean and modern hotel in a great location. The only little problem was ants in the kitchen. We booked 6 nights but only stay 2 because of the Yasi Cyclone. Hotel and Expedia gladly refunded the balance.

“Lovely apartment, felt at home”

Fantastisk hotel just what we expected. We extended our stay with 4 more days. The apartments are very nice and with lots of space. It felt like home. Will come back to this hotel.

“Great location”

We found the hotel to be in a fantastic position for exploring the city of Cairns. The view from our room was lovely, across Trinity Bay and overlooking the mountains as well. The front desk staff were very amiable and helpful. The hotel was clean and fresh. Rooms were spacious, but maybe could have done with some interior design features...ie a couple more paintings on the walls. A little sparse in that area. The carpet was a little dirty in places as well. We loved the kitchen facilities and separate bedroom that we had. Overall a great stay which we would choose again.

Area recommendations

City of Cairns itself was lovely. The northern beaches were good to drive to, and the Atherton Tablelands was a good day trip.

“centrally located”

Everything is extremely well maintained and the staff are friendly and the building is secure with guests needing to swipe their room key to utilise the lifts. The hotel is located within walking distance to wonderful restaurants, shopping and the Cairns Casino. The only thing we were not completely satisfied with was the comfort of the bed. If you like a firm bed, you will love this hotel. Unfortunately we prefer a soft bed.

Area recommendations

Cairns is absolutely stunning in its own right but the surrounding areas are gob smacking gorgeous. If you are able to get to the Daintree, Port Douglas and Mossman areas, do yourself a favour and go. Mossman gorge is beautiful and the food at the cafe on the left side of the road at Daintree Village (easy to find) is nothing short of wonderful. We had barramundi & salad which was served with 8 different tropical fruits and was very reasonably priced. The Atherton Tablelands are stunning with a trip to the Milla Milla falls a must. If you can, hire a car and explore this lovely part of Australia. A trip down to Mission Beach, about an hour south of Cairns is great. This little town is cute with lots of places to explore and things to do, and Dunk Island is just a boat ride away.

“Harbour lights”

We enjoyed spending time at this hotel. It was in a nice location central to the Harbour. It had a beautiful kitchen with all the appliances needed to cook with. THe living room and idning room area were nice. Our only issue was the couch wasnt' very comfortable and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
