“Excellent location and service. Clean and cozy.”
The hotel is facing the sea. Beautiful view of the Gibraltar Rock. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient parking in front of the hotel. Clean and nice. Affordable - excellent alternative to more expensive Gibraltar's hotels. Would recommend it to anyone.
“Suited our needs”
Arrived very late after all day train and bus journey, helpful front desk fluent in English, woke up to fantastic ocean view. Short walk to Gibraltar, our focus. Good sized double, top (3rd) floor, elevator, clean, balcony, no fridge. Standard brkfst buffet; meats cheese cereal coffee sweets, plenty of it. Quiet area (in late October), not much nearby, one or two restaurants. 40 minute fixed rate taxi to Algeciras train station. I'd stay here again in a minute, but now I've been to Gibraltar so....
“Nice hotel, thin walls”
Only major complaint is the very thin walls, it was impossible not to hear everything around the hotel.
“Perfect place for Gibraltar”
If you want to book an exursion make sure you do it in advance, buses to Ronda etc leave at 8ish in the morning so don't just turn up at the bus stop!!
“Hotel City Mar in La Linea”
The hotel is basic but clean and adequate and well situated for access to Gibraltar. Room size is good with a sea view and the buffet breakfast was fine. Although the area surrounding the hotel was somewhat run down, as a single, female traveller I did not feel unsafe on the 20 minute or so walk to the Gibraltar border but would recommend sticking to the sea front route rather than cutting through any of the side streets/park.

very basic hotel, great to use as a base. Rooms large enough with balcony overlooking the sea which does catch the winds! 5 min taxi or 25 min walk to Gibraltar border which is fine. Free wi-fi in room but disappointed that there was no coffee making facilities. Two very nice Indian and Chinese restaurants right next door! Quite a walk to the nearest shop/supermarket to stock up on water and snacks for the room.
“Adequate”
Great location right across from the beach. About 1-1.5kms from Gib border. The immediate area is a bit run down and the hotel is a bit dated and worn, but overall was adequate for one night for the price.
“Adequate hotel for Gibraltar visits”
CityMar Hotel Mediterraneo is beyond its glory days and definitely needs to be updated, specifically the hotel keys, plumbing and sagging foundation (which shows in the dining room). Despite these flaws, it is adequate, located on the beach and very close to Gibraltar, where hotels are hard to find and expensive.
“Faded grandeur”
The staff were helpful and pleasant, but the hotel rooms were poor. The balcony curtain fell down when we tried to open it and there is a lack of maintenance and care all round. The breakfast was good and the value of the room was excellent, but you need to watch out for insects in the rooms. The hotel is in a redevelopment area, so the environment is rough and you had best order a taxi to go to Gibraltar or the town centre. Sunrise views over the Med from balconies are great.
“More like a 2-star hotel”
Although the location is very good, the hotel building is in a poor condition both in the rooms and the common areas. Room furniture is low quality and the cleanliness was below average. The room smelled like it hadn't been used for quite some time. Does not deserve the 3-star rating.
