“Not Impressed”
Restaurant service was excellent; the waiter was polite. However, the Reception which was supposed to be available 24/7 wasn't manned before 5am. I called it at 4am because there was no water available, no one was there and when I went down to the Reception nobody was there. Housekeeping was worst. I requested for fresh towels since 9am, told the Receptionist herself but the towels were delivered at 10:30 PM after we had to share one towel during our bath. Lucky we're a family! Early that morning at around 2:15, the smoke alarm went off and every guest in the hotel had to evacuate using the back stairs. We couldn't see any person in the Reception. It took more than an hour to stop the alarm and we had to share the ONLY elevator cause the other one was not working. Is this the kind of hotel I'm going to recommend? NO WAY!!!
“Don't Stay Here!!!”
The pictures posted on the travel website are NOT AT ALL like the actual rooms. We arrived after around midnight after a late flight to find only 1 person manning the ENTIRE hotel! And he was not at all happy to be the only one working! He was very rude, insensitive and dismissing. The rooms have no working locks for the doors and there is no security aside from the 1 person manning the front desk. The walls, carpet and sofa were visibly dirty. WAY over-priced for the quality of everything! To top it all off, heavy construction/demolition began at 6:15am that morning! Nobody let us know about this. I will never stay at another Best Western ever again after this experience and the dishonesty in advertising.
“Not impressed”
Not impressed, the welcome was less than friendly and I was told the account had not been paid when I pre-paid it at the time of booking. The bed was not re-made just tidied and dirty cups etc. were not cleaned up. The key card did not work in the room door but no-one at reception explained that it had to be swiped in the lift first, even when we went back to reception they just gave us another card. No assistance was offered with luggage even though we had 2 large cases as we were going on a cruise. We stayed 1 more night in Brisbane after the cruise but chose the Rendezvous hotel where we received excellent service.
“Potential unrealized”
This hotel is perfectly located for tourists and business travelers wishing to have ready access to Brisbane's CBD. Sitting up on Wickham Terrace, a historic area with parks and trees and flowers and graceful architecture still in evidence, it could be a highly sought-after boutique hotel. A short, attractive walk leads down to the central shopping and business areas. The hotel, however, is disappointing - a bit run down, unimpressive in its appointments and facilities, lacking inspiration and with an air of decay quality management. I was not tempted to try its buffet breakfast - why do so many hotels produce this same old format of endlessly reheated mush and revolting coffee strained through tasteless bitter grounds? How can this still be the norm? Does it really cost too much to produce a simple meal to order - fresh (real, actual) fruit juice, a freshly made individual coffee, freshly toasted wholemeal bread or baguettes or croissants, a simple egg & bacon dish, yoghurt, nuts and muesli? That is the kind of attention that brings customers back over and over.
“kookie docktor”
one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had: Reception is cool, little or no suggestion of hospitality. the room air-conditioner is noisy and drafty. The bathroom spartan and cold. very limited towels. the beds uncomfortable. the hallway noisy. Breakfast of hard boiled eggs, plain toast, canned peaches and instant coffee too expensive and dull. the laundry was not working; the service that did our laundry was incompetent at best. the phones did not work for two days. We saved no money on this deal because we left the hotel four days early for another hotel; better to lose some money than ruin a holiday. Worst Western Hotel is right! Not accommodating at all.
“Central city location, shame about the parking arrangements”
This hotel is very conveniently located to the CBD but the area isn't called Spring Hill for nothing - it is a fairly steep ascent from the shopping malls and the river so maybe not suitable for the elderly or young children. We were horrified to discover the car parking arrangements - it is one of those mechanical stacked parking systems with vehicles lowered and raised as owners wish to leave or return. We didn't have to wait long to gain access but we would not have booked if we had been aware of the arrangement. The hotel is currently undergoing some repairs or refurbishments so some access was restricted but they seemed to be mindful of making minimal intrusion. Overall the rate for 2 nights in a spacious, clean and comfortable room in the CBD was very reasonable and compensated for the inconveniences.
“Great location, but not much else going for it.”
We nicknamed our hotel worst western, great location and friendly enough staff but a lot of confusion of what would be provided to us, "yes that will brought right up" - and never arrived, quite common. I don't like to see holes in linen, towels and ironing board cover as these small issues could easily be replaced and leave a bad impression. Overall, the location saved the day, great place to stay to be close to a lovely garden and the city.
“Good location in Brisbane”
This hotel is on a very good location just a few minites walk to downtown but the hotel is kinda old the we got to sleep in a separate single beds. The service was ok.
“Enjoyable stay”
Enjoyed our stay, room was good size and we put the kitchenette to good use (although I was a bit paranoid about the smoke alarm because of the warning notices about setting it off and how much it would cost if the fire brigade was called out!!) Would have preferred a proper queen size bed instead of 2 singles joined together with an uncomfortable ridge in the middle. Easy walk into town and train station. Spring Hill loop (free weekday bus service) stops close by as does the City Sights bus tour.
“nice hotel”
nice hotel, clean area, close to central train station 2 blocks away, easy to get to airport or from airport, nice views, only downside was they were doing construction on the older part of the hotel while we were there
