“Dirty Hotel, Rude Personnel, No Iron/Ironing Board”

I was relocated to this hotel after my initial reservation was cancelled. The room was expensive enough, so I thought the hotel would be reasonable. I was completely wrong. This hotel is quite dirty and stinks. It is not possible to take a shower without making a mess with the water, since the bathtub does not have a shower curtain. The personnel who worked in the evening were quite rude to me. I also tried to borrow and iron and ironing and they said they didn't have any, despite the fact that it is specified in the amenities. Not very convenient when one goes to a conference and needs to have clothes freshly ironed. The internet connection was also pathetically slow. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

“Cute studios”

The Atrium was a nice place that rented out studio apartments. So we had a kitchenette in our room, which was excellent because there were a couple groceries and markets right down the street from the hotel. So it was nice to save a couple bucks and get our hands dirty. It's a short walk from the city center (think 5 minutes). My only complaints about the place are that the bed we got was actually a convertible sofa bed, so it wasn't the comfiest, and that our room wasn't cleaned while we were there. which was weird, but it was very clean to start, so as long as you don't make a mess it's not really an issue. All in all it was a nice hotel and a good deal.

“ok in Aix”

Hotel is not pretty or fancy--but it was the only place in Aix I could find that a family of 5 could stay in for one night on our way from Avignon to Nice. Fine for a stop over, but not a place I would want to stay for more than a single night. Parking was very difficult in Aix so it is a good idea to know where you are going before you get there. Staff was very pleasant and the room was clean. Towels were like dishtowels, but the bathroom was pretty big for Europe. You get what you pay for...

“Not Much Personality or Customer Service”

Upon entering the room, I noticed a wall was being repaired ( a printed sign on paper said the room was under renovation). I returned to the front desk, asked to speak to the manager and was discouraged from waiting to do so. Was told no other rooms were available and there was technically no renovation ( just a repair under way for a previous leak). I negotiated free parking (normally $12/day) as compensation for the condition of the room, but had to remind the front desk clerk upon check out. Only three desk/dining chairs along with the sofa bed in a superior room that slept four. Would recommend looking for another hotel.

Area recommendations
The hotel location was a convenient walking distance to the Cours Mirabeau, shopping areas and the old town, but the neighborhood was not as scenic as the more central areas.

“Dirty hotel”

Staff was not well trained, not enough towels, soap, etc. Very dirty carpets. Good value but won't stay there again.

“Relaxing and fun just chilling..”

The hotel location was convenient to the old city. The staff was courteous and efficient, accomodating us with our minimal French. The rooms were typical European, small but adequate for our travels.

Traveller's tip
The old city is known for the fountains, the art and don't miss the street market every Thursday from 9am-1pm. Marseilles is a 30 minute bus ride away, along with Chateau D'If where Count of Monte Cristo took place.

Aix-en-Provence, France: Chic and cultured, Aix-en Provence is full of leafy boulevards, fountain-splashed squares and stately mansions. The city and surrounding Provençal landscapes were the inspiration for Paul Cézanne’s artist’s palette. Follow his trail to see where he painted, studied, ate and drank. At Aix’s heart is the Cours Mirabeau, lined with elegant pavement cafés such as legendary Les Deux Garçons, the haunt of Cézanne and famous writers.
