“Great find”
Just had one night in transit - would love to come back and stay longer. Traditional one story Chinese hotel with rooms beautifully arranged around several courtyards. Incredibly friendly staff. Interesting, comfortable, and immaculately clean room with very nice bathroom. Not a big space, but more than enough for comfort. On a quiet lane with rare cars less than one block from a wonderful street of small shops and restaurants.
“Would definitely stay here again!”
The staff was courteous and friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The hutong was delightful, many shops and restaurants nearby and the area was amazingly quiet at night.
“A Great Beijing Experience.”
We were most impressed with Courtyard 7. The staff who spoke very good english were friendly, accommodating and very helpful. As we were concerned about how to get to the hotel we were emailed instructions to the taxi driver, in Chinese, on how to get there from the airport. We were also informed in what we might expect to pay. This was a major concern to us as our Chinese is absolutely minimal and we didn't want to start our holiday off by getting "Lost in Beijing". We were shown to our room, and we were delighted with the cleanliness, unique character and solitude in the middle such a large boisterous city. The staff gave us information on how to get to the sights we wished to visit so we felt confident as we headed out each morning. And I might add, happy and content after our very good and complimentary western style breakfast. The hotel is situated in a historic hutong area which is 15 minutes walk away from the Metro, and about 30 to 40 minutes walk to the Forbidden City. You may find it easier to get a taxi if you walk out to a main street, where you can flag one down quite readily. After a busy and tiring day of sightseeing we decided to have dinner at the hotel rather and always found it a nice experience. The staff again were wonderful, the food good, and the ambience and quietness of the restaurant very relaxing. I would not hesitate to recommend the Courtyard 7 to anyone who is travelling to Beijing who wishes to experience something special.
“Lovely hotel away from hustle and bustle of Beijing”
I'd highly recommend this hotel - although very central and near a busy alleyway of Beijing's Hutong, the courtyard makes it feels faraway and therefore is great place to relax after sightseeing. The staff were very welcoming and did their best to make sure we had a great stay. Due to its location in the hutong and the fact that taxi drivers can't always park outside, I'd recommend asking the hotel to arrange your transport as not sure we would have found it otherwise!
“Travellers' Chinese Paradise in Beijing - April 2010”
We selected this hotel because it appeared to have some authentic Chinese character and we were delighted to find that the advertisement was accurate. The hotel is tucked away off a lovely shopping street and is so convenient to a wide range of restaurants, bars, cafes, designer and ethnic shops. The Chinese staff were exceedingly friendly, courteous and efficient, the rooms had character, were comfortable (although not much wardrobe space which didn't bother us) and clean, added to which there was a beautiful modern en suite comprising toilet, washbasin and walk-in shower. We ate in the hotel once apart from breakfasts which were a pleasant surprise - everything possible from the continental range as well as a chef on hand to cook preferred variety of eggs to go with the cooked breakfast......So many places to go/see/visit so we often ate out during our daily travels. Free internet available all day (with a complimentary cup of green tea thrown in). There were some small ongoing building projects (new shops being fitted out) in the area made approach to hotel a bit dusty but it was like stepping into an oasis of peace and tranquility once you entered the door of Courtyard 7. Would highly recommend this hotel.
“More than we expected”
If you want a hotel offering you a mix of East and West, this is the place for you. Forget the 'business' hotels that seem to whitewash Chinese culture, Courtyard 7 gives you what you want: a Chinese experience for western travelers. The staff really does their best to take care of you. Know that the idea of hospitality service in China is still adolescent, at best, and Courtyard 7 is very close to adulthood. The location is perfect. Difficult to get to by taxi but well worth it. Learn the name of the main street near there -- Nanluogo Xiang. A quaint "walking" street with shops, cafés, etc. On the corner from our hotel's street and Nanluogo is a Korean restaurant, "Saveurs de Korée", easily the best in the neighborhood. There are perhaps two main areas for improvement. The hotel restaurant needs lots of work. The dishes are disappointing (especially relative to price) and the menu needs more light items for weary travelers to snack on (the restaurant was never busy, except for the included breakfast in the morning). The bed was really not very comfortable at all (this was probably more of the East side of the experience than the West) and takes getting used to.
“Lovely Hotel - Exactly What We Wanted”
Hotel was in a Hutong and was exactly what we were hoping to experience. The staff could not have done more for us, they were very attentive to every question and need. Very helpful with directions and transportation. Having use of the free bicycles was very nice way to explore Beijing. Hotel was within walking distance to many tourist attractions and places to eat.
“Amazing stay”
Hotel is really amazing! Everything is filled with history, although it has all modern facilites.A bit hard to find it for the first time, but then it was OK, Defenetely recommend this hotel!
“Memories for Life!!”
It was a dream to someday see Beijing and this trip did not disappoint!! I cannot say enough great things about the staff and character of Courtyard 7! The location is perfect and a the people so friendly! I couldn't imagine staying in a Western Style hotel and recommend Courtyard 7 highly! May all your dreams come true!
“Blast in Beijing”
The staff was extremely pleasant and offered everything we needed. They gave us a nifty little guide with directions to all the touristy destinations and set us up with a great driver for the great wall tour. And the rooms are beautiful!
