Hotel Riu Republica - Adults only - All Inclusive

2/10 Terrible

"This was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. I have stayed in other Riu Hotel's and everything was outstanding. What a disappointment this hotel, staff, food, and especially room was. I even ended up with bed bug welts on both my legs and arms. I have pictures to prove it. These rooms and the building were disgusting. I felt so embarrassed to bring my wife to such a rundown dump. This staff was the most unfriendly arrogant staff I have ever encountered. I couldn’t understand why they treat guests like this like we were and inconvenience to them. I had cash on me to tip great service and help the local community but ended up basically bringing all my cash back because I couldn’t find decent service at this hotel. The room was so run down and disgusting. The cleaning staff would be screaming early in the morning waking me and my wife up. They just didn’t care. What a lack of respect. We sometimes had hot water and other times didn’t. The AC didn’t really work. When I called to ask for extra pillow and a room change the lady that answered the phone literally hung up on me twice. The only thing that was good was the nightlife entertainment. I really hope that you guys make the proper changes to make experiences better for future guest, or just shut the place down."

"My son and I spent 14 days recently at Ocean Blue. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the property was. The staff was incredible. We enjoyed the shows, the food, and the activities by the ocean and pool each day. My only small complaint would be the gym. They could upgrade many of the machines and add treadmills and working elliptical machines. Everything else was great."

"El hotel muy bonito. Romina muy amable y atenta desde el primer dia nos ayudó y guió en todo lo que necesitábamos. Algunas personas del staff eran amables. La piscina cool. No había muchas actividades por hacer pero nos ayudó a desconectar un poco de todo. La comida en Parda muy rica. Pero comida en Volcano y la atención fueron malas. El beach club 10/10 pero la comida y el servicio 4/10. Nos sentamos con mi esposo en el pool bar y nunca llegaron a atendernos. Solo pasaba y pasaba staff y nunca se paraban a preguntar si queríamos algo. Todo el cuarto es un 10/10."

"Service was so bad. We had to clean the bathroom every day. Very rude staff. Kids club staff were amazing. Kept calling the service desk no answers, what a shame , even to ask for water was not delivered only couple times. I spent $6000.00 and look what kind of service I got. I will proceed with issues with upper management or corporate management regarding this stay . Very bad experience I will not visit again."

"Francisca was the best!! I am so glad she was our concierge. She helped to set up our reservations, checked in with us every day, and helped us get what we made nee for our stay. The resort is beautiful and the restaurants had good food. The meals were hit or miss with the group of 9 we had. About the only meal we disliked was the seafood meals at the Seaside for dinner. The Seaside had excellent breakfast and lunch. The pools were always cleaned. We had the pool bar out our back door, and the bartenders Marteen, Daysi, and Juana were so friendly. Our cleaning lady was great. We would on occasion get a swan or heart made from towels and then flowers with them. We always had clean towels and the rom was immaculate after she came through."
