"The hotel was really nice, the hot tub in the room was great, we did not use the public baths so I cannot comment on them. Food was great, good variety and exceptional service. The only negative thing was the towels in the room were very bad, thread bare and worn, totally different than everything else at the hotel."

"Per my earlier check in review, the one major item that had a negative impact on my stay at Hotel Nanpuso was the room temperature of the air conditioners could not be controlled. The hotel had a central control that basically rendered the temperature control of the air conditioning in each room inoperative. The room was warm and stuffy which required opening the windows to cool the room. Fortunately, the hotel was quiet so leaving the windows open was okay. Another thing to consider is if you decide to drive around the Hakone area just a word to the wise. The roads in Hakone area are narrow, winding and offer poor visibility to oncoming traffic. The tourist spots have limited tight parking and can be extremely congested. Other than the road, parking and traffic conditions. Hakone is a location that offers beautiful scenery, quiet tranquility and excellent hot springs. "

"This was easily the highlight of the hotels I stayed at on my Japan trip. Very friendly staff. Great food. Great amenities. My only regret is I could only stay for 1 night before moving onto my next location."

"I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in my time and I have to say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Check in isn’t until 5pm but check out is 1pm. The welcoming staff were super friendly and very helpful. You have amenities in your room but they have extra in the lobby. Who knew heated eye pads were a thing! That I now need in my life. The room was amazing with a king bed and a 3 piece bathroom that has an onsen and a separate shower that use water from the hot springs. And oh my god, the bed is the best. The softest sheets I have ever slept on and the quilt makes you feel like you are sleeping in a cloud. (In hindsight I wish I had taken the quilt and have charged me to buy the quilt, it was that amazing) we checked out as late as we could just so I could lay under the quilt. I’m just annoyed with myself that I only booked this for 1 night."

"Close to train station walkable in 10 min. Outside Elevator was helpful for luggage. Breakfast very plentiful. Sleeping on floor Japanese style was unique. Room was very large."
