Stayed the night after a 21st party that was held at this resort. It is so convenient. The next day my husband went out for a golf session with our son and a friend. Breakfast is nice for just $30 not a lot of choice but just enough. Would come back again

I normally have a very nice, quiet stay at Rydges, which I book from time to time for work. I find the cottages an excellent place to hunker down and work on particularly intense projects because of how quiet and out of the way it is but this time I had a less than satisfactory stay. Adjoining cottage had a massive party on my first night - so only about 2 hours sleep that night, and I was completely withered by dozens of mosquitos on the second despite keeping all my windows and doors closed - so again, no sleep again. Not a lot management can do about either of those things but there were lots of empty cottages so there was absolutely no need to place me (staying on my own) into a cottage adjoining a wedding party. A plug in mozzie repellent being made available in the room would have been an easy fix for the second night. I went home absolutely shattered. The real kicker was the internet being almost completely unusable for the duration of my stay. I could barely load emails much less get any work done - I had to drive to Botany and do my Teams calls in a coffee shop, completely undermining the whole point of my stay. Not sure I'll return to be honest.

Amazing size, great venue for weddings
We were taken aback by how large the villa was - The living/bedroom was massive, and the bathroom area was the size of a living room. I would recommend Formosa for couples wanting to get married. The size of the villa is more than sufficient to accommodate a wedding crew (make up artist, hair stylist, etc). The only downside for me was the insects - Being next to the golf course, you will see insects. We saw many mosquitoes during our stay there. If you don't like insects, I would recommend preparing an insect spray. We purchased the breakfast buffet option for our stay. It was convenient because we had a busy schedule ahead of us. However, if we had time to go out for breakfast, we would have done that. The food was very basic with some cereal, bread, jam, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausages. There weren't any salads. However, the food we had at our wedding reception was amazing, and we received positive feedback from our guests.

Booked a room for four people but only towels for two supplied and insufficient English tea bags and coffee. Asked reception for more towels which did come very quickly. Paid for the breakfast buffet but cancelled it as there was very little choice and most items were almost empty - very disappointed.

Great location, housekeeping lacking
We arrived for our stay and decided to go out for a nice meal before heading back later into the evening, on first impression the room was tidy and had been cleaned, however it soon became clear that the bathroom had not been cleaned as there were soiled towels on the drying rack and an used flannel in the shower. It was too late at night to go to reception and request to change rooms for a one night stay, informed the front desk whilst checking out and it seems like this sort of thing has happened before.

Beautiful location in a quieter area of Auckland that is perfect for those that want to take a pause. Rooms and resort looks to be having ongoing refreshments and upgrades. Lovely spot and can't wait to visit again in the future

Stunning views from our villa and restaurant/main building. Spacious rooms with gigantic luxurious bathroom. Bathroom was relatively clean but shower screen had some soap scum on it. Otherwise fine. Restaurant had limited options but the food we ordered was delicious. Buffet breakfast was okay, limited options there too. We went to breakfast late so would've been good if we could have our eggs to order, instead of scrambled eggs and hash browns that had probably sat there most of the morning
