"This resort IS TOO BIG. RIDICULOUS! You have to take a shuttle bus everywhere you go to get anywhere, insane food prices, jungala water park not included even though you're staying at Jungala?? Beautiful rooms, pools are pretty nice (but cold), but beach is rocky and not swimmable. Overall would not return. Staff are super nice but the size of the resort makes their job at trying to reserve stuff / restaurants/ communication near impossible. Just trying to do a load of laundry took an act of God. Never again."

"I would really give this resort a 3.5. There is a lot to love here- the grounds a beautiful and very well maintained, and the room we stayed in (Dunas) was very nice with convenient tech and ocean views. The entertainment, specifically the Imperial Band was excellent, and most of the staff were great, the activities directors were engaging and Maria at Mar y Tierra was a standout. The spa was great. However, the food was very disappointing. La Hacienda & L’Olivio were good as was Mar y Tierra which actually offered probably the best service of any restaurant. Everywhere else was disappointing and we tried every restaurant. The duck I had at L’Alsace was so over cooked it wasn’t discernible as duck. I wasn’t expecting Michelin star meals but for a 5 star resort the food was really subpar. Dining is a big part of vacationing for us so this was the biggest detractor. The drinks were also bad. Don Miguel was much better than any of the other bars as they found ways to balance their drinks but everything else uses terrible artificial sweeteners so we struggled to find something we enjoyed. Finding things to try was a pain because there are no menus onsite (QR code only) and outside the main hub the service is awful. The room was nice but we chose it for the pool and it was unusably cold. Much colder than ambient temp. Also the filter was so loud you could hear it lying in bed. Main pool loungers were gone before 10am. Beautiful but not somewhere we’d want to return to."

"Secrets Maroma is an amazing resort. The staff is top knock and keep the place humming. Seamlessly setting up the various events and preparing delicious food. You feel like royalty having their help and kindness at any moment. The facilities, pool and beach are flawless, clean and new. Rooms are amazing. Swim out rooms look cool. After loads of research I chose this resort based on my price point and the best food. Secretes totally delivered. Spa was incredible. Be ready for the timeshare breakfast with extra free stuff. Dodge it if you value your time and mood. This place is world class. Stop researching and start relaxing. "

"SWINGERS hotel. My husband and I booked here for 7 nights, we only stayed 3 (we had to because of an all day tour that was booked on day 3), we would have checked out on day 2. While the views were STUNNING. We did enjoy the sounds of the ocean each night. We thought this would be perfect to relax. We saw a completely nude man by the pool and several women topless walking around. When we asked about it, they simply said that it was a swingers hotel. NOWHERE could I find that here on hotels.com OR even on the hotels main website. We did really enjoy 2 of their employees. Freddy and Ana were GREAT!! Our room was beautiful but lacking. When I asked for a refund for the 4 nights we were NOT staying there (we booked at an amazing resort nearby), they refused. They said we had to go to hotels.com for the refund. Hotels.com said they needed approval from the hotel. The hotel refused. I was forced to put in a claim with my bank. ALSO... the photos are BEAUTIFUL... the place looks like no one loves it. My husband wouldn't go in the pool because he almost cut his foot on broken tiles at the bottom (they were all over the pool), water pressure was HORRIBLE. Each shower was full of frustration. So many areas seemed broken, or just like the owners/managers simply didn't want to fix them. The elevator was also very old and uncared for. I had hoped this would be the perfect place to relax. We were left disappointed. FOOD was NOT good either. Drinks were ok. We DON'T RECOMMEND!!! "

"Absolutely wonderful place! Beautiful, relaxing, and everything smells so good! My only complaint is the pool is unheated! My 2.5 year old had purple lips within 10 minutes of playing in it in 80° weather. The pool largely remains empty, as it’s just too uncomfortable."

"Room was ok, and the staff was great. Since the other cheaper Iberostar resorts can use our resort, I question why we pay more for it if they get the same things. The staff never said no to the other colored wrist bands at the bars or food? "
