"I visited Hakuba with my girlfriend during the Snow Machine festival. The White Horse hotel is a privately owned boutique, and Tony was very friendly and helpful during our stay. I especially liked the included breakfast that fueled energy for snowboarding and the shuttle service to and from the mountains. The only confusing part was during the initial tour, Tony didn't mention that we were expected to use the shared onsens for showering. I'm not sure if this is common practice in Japan, but we...

"Had higher expectations of the lodging based on pictures and descriptions. Was not a comfortable or clean place to stay for those of us who aren’t in our 20s and who didn’t intend on staying at a large hostel. I love hostels but this was priced like a low cost hotel but without amenities."

The Happo one slopes are not too far away, but would recommend having a car to get around if you want to try other slopes "
