"I was given a Corner room with no view of the river even though I was promised a good river view when booking. The staff were very dismissive when I complained and even refused to change room when I offered to pay for an upgrade. When I asked for an upgrade they were more concerned about having to pay before even checking for availability. I find that very condescending. As big as the hotel was only one receptionist was there around 7pm and was keen on using all the time she had on the people before us. For an hotel that was well sold on the app the service and staff didn’t match up at all. 0 ⭐️"

"Everything was great apart from the noise level. Appreciate you are next to a busy junction and the building may be listed so you can't change the windows though. Best bed we've ever had at a hotel! And love the Newcastle artwork of Monument in the room. "

"Was offered a newly refurbished room which was excellent. Decor was nice, shower was huge, toiletries weren’t nailed to the wall in dispensers that you can barely operate (finally) and everything was modern and well laid out. My only problem was the room was very hot in the morning. The radiator had been turned down as low as possible but the room was still uncomfortably hot waking me up at 6.15am and unable to cool down to get back to sleep. "

"Central location opposite railway station and close to shops etc. Room was generous and clean, although as the duvet was thin and the room temperature setting did not correlate with actual room temperature, an extra blanket would have been useful. The car park where a discount is offered is a 10min walk away and this would have been useful to know when booking."
