The best area to stay in Old Westbury, New York, is directly within the village itself, particularly around the Old Westbury Gardens estate.

Old Westbury is an affluent residential village on Long Island, known for its large estates and verdant landscapes. It's characterised by spacious properties and a generally quiet, upscale environment. The primary draw is Old Westbury Gardens, a magnificent historic estate with formal gardens, woodlands, ponds, and a grand mansion, which often hosts events and tours. The roads surrounding the gardens, such as Old Westbury Road and Wheatley Road, exemplify the area's tranquil nature.

For couples seeking a refined and peaceful getaway, staying in Old Westbury offers an ideal setting. The proximity to Old Westbury Gardens allows for leisurely strolls through beautiful grounds and provides a backdrop for a relaxing escape. The area's quiet roads are also pleasant for drives.

Families looking for a luxurious and spacious base will also find Old Westbury appealing. While not bustling with attractions, the large properties and open spaces provide a comfortable environment.

The best time to visit Old Westbury is during the spring (late April to early June) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.

Spring brings blooming gardens and comfortable temperatures, ideal for exploring the Old Westbury Gardens. The estate's famous Walled Garden and Rose Garden are at their most beautiful, offering a colourful and fragrant experience. This period is particularly lovely for couples seeking a romantic getaway or solo travellers looking for tranquil strolls amidst natural beauty.

Autumn offers crisp air, colourful foliage, and fewer crowds, making it another excellent time to visit. The changing leaves provide a stunning backdrop for walks through the grounds, and the cooler temperatures are superb for enjoying the outdoor sculptures and architectural details of the Westbury House. Families often appreciate the comfortable weather for outdoor exploration without the intense heat of summer.

While summer (July and August) is warm and sunny, it can be quite hot and humid, which might be less comfortable for extended outdoor visits.
