The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

8/10 Good

"Room: no wash cloths, 3 out 4 days, only given 1 bath towel even though two adults were assigned to the room. Tub rusty, no wash cloths, no refrigerator, no coffee maker."

Vertus Edit Canary Wharf

8/10 Good

"The property was in a great location, it was clean, and the staff was great. If you travel to the UK or Europe in general often, the lack of AC won’t bother you as it’s standard amongst hotels; that’s my only warning to American guests. Great place to stay and big bang for your buck!"

Strand Palace Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful well appointed property close to theaters and a quick train or bus ride to many museums and historical sites. Lots of restaurants close by including a scone restaurant next door - scones were absolutely delicious! We were greeted every day by Anthony who ensured our day got off to a wonderful start! All of the staff were kind and very professional."

Bluedaws Private Hotel

8/10 Good

"This is a budget hotel. If you are willing to stay at a budget place, with a shared washroom, I'd highly recommend this place because it is so close to Paddington Station, and a quick walk through Hyde Park takes you to some of the major museums and pick-up spots for many of the tours that go out of London. The staff are lovely."

When is the best time to go to Barbican?

The Barbican Centre and its surrounding residential areas are the best places to stay when visiting Barbican.

The Barbican Estate is a large, iconic Brutalist complex known for its distinctive architecture, tranquil gardens, and water features. For culture enthusiasts, staying within the Barbican Estate or directly adjacent offers unparalleled convenience. You're literally steps away from world-class performances, exhibitions, and films. Many of the flats within the estate are available for short-term lets and provide a unique opportunity to experience this architectural marvel firsthand, often with access to private residents' gardens.

Couples looking for a sophisticated and peaceful base will appreciate the area's relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evenings when the Barbican Centre lights up. There are numerous high-quality restaurants and bars within and around the complex, great for a pre-theatre dinner or a quiet drink.
