Visit Hindu temples in lush forests, treat yourself to rejuvenating body treatments and discover the thriving arts scene of Bali's cultural capital.

Ubud is a traditional Balinese Hindu village and is known as the island’s artistic, cultural and spiritual heart. See typical Indonesian paintings, watch Balinese dancers, join a cooking class or revitalise with health treatments.Explore Ubud on foot, bicycle or motorbike. Alternatively, hire a local guide who will point out the highlights. After your tour, shop for souvenirs along Jalan Raya and Dewi Sita, two of the main roads. At sunset, play badminton with the locals. Then, head to the ornate Puri Saren Palace, opposite the tourist centre on Jalan Raya, where dancers delight the crowds with a different performance each night.Ubud is home to some of the finest art galleries in Bali. These galleries include the Neka Art Museum and the Museum Puri Lukisan. Don’t miss the chance to visit the extraordinary Don Antonio Blanco Museum, created by the “Dali of Bali” himself. At the Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA), browse paintings done in the classical Balinese artistic style of Kamasan, learn how to dye fabric using the batik method, and see musicians perform. Those who are into pampering and alternative healing will love Ubud’s health retreats. Join yoga sessions, enjoy rejuvenating body treatments and partake in cooking classes. Try something from the menu at a juice bar or at cafés and restaurants specialising in raw food and vegan cooking.

Visit the many temples of Ubud to see the spiritual side of this part of Bali. Walk through a stone mouth to reach Goa Gajah, the mysterious Elephant Cave. Meet the macaques that live around temple complex in the Ubud Monkey Forest. To enjoy the lush countryside, kayak on the Ayung River, hike along the Campuhan Ridge or book an elephant safari.Ubud is located in central Bali. The village has accommodation for all budgets, both near the town centre and in the countryside. The hotel was totally amazing. Best experience we have ever had anywhere. Our “room” was a villa with cabin ( beautiful bedroom and huge bathroom), outside was enormous private hot tub, great swimming pool, and pleasant patio. The grounds were like being in an amazing flowered jungle.

The pool area needs a spray as the ants crawled all over us and were nesting in the chairs. The bed was not comfortable but the room was nice. Restaurant food is limited especially for breakfast and we found a hair in our satay! Staff were excellent at both front desk and restaurant.
