"Uneven and unsafe steep stairs to go anywhere in this place. For some reason, women are housed up on the 2nd floor (2 long flights up). Kitchen was not in operation during my stay which turned out to be OK as it'd be ANOTHER steep flt. of stairs to get there (3 flts. total). Staff was generally decent & helpful with the exception of one female (swing shift) who was rude, argumentative and unhelpful. "

"I wish I did a little more research before booking. This lodge used to be a hostel and still seems more like a hostel than lodge. It would be perfect if I wasn’t traveling with a toddler who wants to get into everything. Location is about a five minute drive from the beach. We saw a ton of deer. It’s a little ways to the shipwreck and lighthouse. Great for trail access. Overall, if you’re traveling with small children or folks who overheat easily, maybe not the best place. "I love the breakfast and the rooms are clean and roomy. I am not a Fisherman's wharf fan but love to walk and you can get down to the water quickly and walk to the Marina or the Bridge. Or you can easily walk to North Beach, Chinatown or down around the piers. "
