We didn't stay
1 / 5 Terrible
We arrived to this property at our designated time yesterday, to find a befuddled, half-dressed owner who immediately declared he wasn't informed we were coming. The manager had called us just that morning. We confirmed for 2 p.m. He said he had no idea how the business worked, but half-heartedly showed us our rooms, expressing surprise we'd reserved a suite (really? With our two children?), and was just clueless. He said the manager had gone out, no info on time of return. She'd not left keys for us, so we couldn't leave our things to go exploring or snorkeling etc. Tried to call her at various numbers with no response. The kitchen isn't ready for B&B guests. I don't think they serve breakfast. It's a "communal" kitchen, where the nice refrigerator had an "owner's fridge, do not use" and a comparatively substandard "communal" fridge that contained plates of half-eaten food, perhaps not that fresh. The pool wasn't entirely clean. There was nowhere to park to easily get our bags in – the owner’s car occupied the only covered area near the entrance. The business area for guests was pre-occupied by someone’s set-up laptop, not another guest’s. The owner was lolling in the common areas, shirtless and watching TV, precluding any relaxing in common areas for the guests. The manager finally appeared, saying she’d had “a busy day,” seemed to commiserate with our issues until I suggested my review would be not positive and then grew a bit steely, saying this state of events was harder on her than us because she was trying to buy the place. I do not want to ruin someone’s livelihood. I thought hard before submitting this, but I live on-island and it wasn’t hard for us to turn around and go home. She gave us a full refund and offered to pay for our gas for travel, which I didn’t accept. My husband did lose three days’ work, my children a day of school, our other area plans canceled including snorkel gear we had to return. What about travelers from elsewhere who’d be bereft and uncomfortable yet stuck with a bit of a “creepy” situation? I hope this property can get updated and professionalized and up to the promise of the lovely website pics and implied ambiance. The owner needs to go, pronto, so the manager can have a fighting chance.
