The location and resort amenities were excellent. However, the unit itself felt dated and poorly maintained. The beds were sagging and made squeaking noises, dining chairs were broken, and the carpet was visibly dirty. Most concerning, there was no deadbolt—anyone with the access code could enter, which is a serious safety issue.

Kitchen had all the tools and the grill had propane. All the literature was easy to understand and posted in plain view. The rooms were clean, bathrooms were clean - it was a beautiful home away from home. Parking was easy and the staff were so friendly.

Very nice property. Gated community with excellent staff. The pool area was very nice but there were no shaded areas unless you were using the dining services. Nice walking areas. Large 2- bedroom unit was a nice break from the small units we had at the large hotel chain facilities at the previous 3 islands that we stayed at.

The property is immaculate. Top notch landscaping. The pool and private restaurant was fantastic. It is beautiful, especially at sunset. I wanted a better view at our unit and be able to hear the waves but this unit worked out fine for us since we were all over the island. The unit was clean and the bed was perfect for us.

We loved our stay. The condo was beautiful, pool was perfect, gym was great. My kids loved the food at the pool bar and it was affordable. Saw whales while on the treadmill. Great beaches nearby, including the black sand beach. We will stay here again.

Great resort. Spectacular views with golf course and lava rock beach walk to watch the waves. Beautiful grounds and great pool/hot tub! Only complaints are that the pool closes at 8pm nightly and you can't bring anything into the pool area (not even water or pool towels). They provide towels at the pool, but most nights we went, they were out of clean towels. Kitchens are well stocked with everything you need for a week.

Hali’i Kai a quiet resort tucked into the Waikolo area. Its townhomes stretch from oceanfront, back to golf views. Watch for whales from its beautiful, family-friendly pool. Food and drink options, as well as a small gym are also located there. Our units furnishings were somewhat dated, but clean and comfortable. A beach cooler, sand toys, and boogie boards were available for our use. If you’re looking for a smaller, more private resort, I’d definitely recommend Hali’i Kai

We loved it

Beautiful family friendly condo/resort. We found an amazing deal on this website that allowed us to enjoy a week of relaxation and exploring. The views and condition of the resort was top notch. Our only complaint was that the floors could have been cleaner. Otherwise we would recommend this place to anyone traveling with a family.

Good for families

It was good overall. This place had lots of kitchen supplies including rice cooker and beach supplies. We used barbecue grill in the porch but it wasn’t clean so we had to clean it before we used it. The air conditioning was great and each room had fans. We had great time while we’re staying.

Trip with 3 grown ups and 2 children for 4 nights. The condo is spacious, washer and dryer are a trip saver, plenty of equipments in the closets for beach activities. Water pressure is strong, and hot water is quick. The area behind the lanai is manicured, has great ocean view from afar, and varieties of birds passing by. The pool is about 5 minutes walk from my unit, and has awesome ocean sunset view. Once we are aware of the rugged rock dividers and edges to be careful around, the pool is very relaxing. Besides picking up/dropping off keys, and picking up beach towels from the check in office, we had no other interaction with customer service/cleaning service. There was a couple sheets of rules to follow, and we were careful to follow them. We visited Kona and Hilo areas and very glad to have picked Waikoloa. It was a memorable vacation and the condo and its amenities added homey comfort.

Beautiful location

We loved our location at the Halii Kai. The grounds are beautiful and it is a super quiet location. The rooms are spacious and the beds were comfortable. My kids especially loved having twin beds so they had their own sleeping space. The carpet is a little stained on the way into the unit, despite having walk-on rugs and a policy to remove shoes. We also wish that there was a vacuum in the unit, since the area under the kitchen table is carpeted and we would have loved to clean up any small crumbs that might have fallen. Other than that, the kitchen had everything we needed and we especially appreciated having a washer and dryer. The pool was small and not conducive to the teen crowd playing catch or anything like that, but was fine to relax in after a day at the beach.We would definitely stay here again.
